Wisconsin basketball has been a joke since Dick Bennett was hired. It continued to Bo and this new guy Gaard or whatever. What's really bad is that their fanbase actually thinks they are a good basketball school and a national power.
19 straight NCAAT appearances
National runner up in 2015
Final Four in 2014 and 2015
They've made the Sweet 16 pretty much every year over the past 10 years
That's pretty damn good.

Are you contending that they are not? Wisconsin is a Top-10 program in wins and tournament wins since 2000. With 351 Division I programs, I would go forth and say that Wisconsin is a good basketball school seeing that they are in the top 2 percent.

I can.
The two teams played each other in 2013-14 and the final score was 48-38 in favor of Wisconsin. That game featured five NBA draft picks and four others playing in the G League.

Virginia (and usually Wisconsin, not sure about this year) plays solid, efficient basketball. Others would be well-served to stop trying to be Duke or UNC and start trying to win.

That score sums up Bennett and Bo Ryan/Gard basketball for you.

Gene Keady must be proud.

The product of College Basketball is horrendous, and that is coming from someone who likes college sports more than pro.
Also, their Mickey Mouse 1 game elimination 68 team tournament is a joke too, but people love "the excitement"

I think that is a little harsh. Virginia is notoriously known as a strong defensive team. They rarely score 60+ points, but they'll sure hold you to around 40 points. That in itself is impressive.
Furthermore, Wisconsin has the reputation for playing "slow it down, kill the clock, take the best shot" basketball. It isn't for everyone, but they play to their strength set and are very successful at it.

you must not be looking at the box scores, there were several games this past week where teams couldnt get to 20 at half.
There was a game where both teams were under 20 at the half.
CBB is getting as bad as the NFL in product. Just poor coaching, play, and officiating.
Like i said in another thread, 1 team was 1/20 for 3's in 1st half, and continued to fire them up, and lost by 20+.
Players and teams are going to continue to do what's not working, till the game is over.

I stopped intently watching College Basketball after the death of the Big East. That was the conference and the tournament.
All these teams just duking and slugging it out in New York City.
That was the premier product and it was done away with. College basketball is vastly inferior and boring now.
Syracuse
UCONN
St. John's
Georgetown
Villanova
Seton Hall
Boston College
Pitt
West Virginia
Providence
Notre Dame

I'll never understand people who can't enjoy a slowed down basketball game. I love the different styles you get in college basketball. Fast paced basketball, on its own, doesn't do anything for me.
A team that can control the tempo, play good defense, and execute in the half court is fun to watch, IMO.

In general, I would agree, but, without trying to imply you claimed so, last night was not a good example. Neither team looked good, but that may be the nature of two traditionally, good defensive teams that play half-court offense playing one another.
These teams combined for 85 points in 2013 with five NBA players on the court. There were only a couple last night, so the outcome didn't surprise me.
Can't speak on behalf of Virginia, but Wisconsin is very young. They have three talented freshmen, but there are/were going to be plenty of growing pains. Knowing the program Wisconsin is, though, fans are a bit frustrated that they were not able to pull out wins against any of Xavier, Baylor, UCLA, and/or UVA, all of whom are ranked foes. Wisconsin had an opportunity to beat the first three, but it never felt they had any control of the game last night.

No coaches on earth can stifle talent like a college basketball coach.

I would think the reduced shot clock is at least helping a bit. Grantland had an interesting piece a few years back on the slow styles and how college should just go to 24 seconds.

Virginia and Wisconsin shouldn't give a crap about entertainment. They've found program identities that help them win. In UVA's case, they struggled to find that identity since they had Ralph Sampson.
If teams want to beat them, they need to execute in the half court. It's not UVA or UW's fault if other teams can't do that.

Set College Basketball Back 40 Years
Good. There is a lot of really bad basketball being played at the college level today. 40 years is a little too far but we'd have a lot of really great years to look forward to.
