I am obsessed with OL play. And 1995 Nebraska is the gold standard. But sitting here trying to tell me they averaged 6-3 340 or whatever ain’t going to fly.

Oh, forgive me. I didn’t realize the amazing human evolution of the last 27 years only matters for football and not basketball

Where did I say they averaged that?

But they absolutely had size similar to the college lines of today. If 1995 Nebraska lined up today, they in no way would look small

Also, I think 1994 Nebraska is more the gold standard. That line was just sick

Orlando Pace was graded as the 6th worst LT in football by PFF in his last season

I don’t have time to explain the difference in dynamics between a singular player and a whole team of 85

So you agree the 2022 pistons would curb stomp the 95 bulls? The modern team would be too much right?

1995 was better. But a healthy Frazier probably had something to do with that.

I’ve watched countless hours of their OL cut ups. It’s insane watching them maul.

To get back to the OP, the 1994 or 1995 Nebraska OL would give the 2011 Alabama defense issues.

I never said curb stomp, but yes on average, a middling team in 2022 would beat the best team in 1995.

I don’t know why that’s a controversial stance

It really is

Aaron Graham was so awesome at center. Dude was quick. And speaking of size, I would bet he is bigger than a lot of the current centers in the nfl in average. He was like 6,4” 290 lbs at center

My cousin(more like uncle in age) played for Nebraska

And my other cousin that ended up playing for lsu went up there in the summers to train because it was THE place for weight lifting. People from all over the world went there to learn. Like CapStone I’m obsessed with those teams

If you want to make an argument that has some logic go ahead. But Nebraska’s supposed lack of size and strength compared to today lacks all logic.

I'm not much older than them, but I do have "Reflection of Perfection" on vhs. Google that.

Lol.

I guess I was 12 in 95.

This thread is stupid

Bingo! If this runs through OP's mind then the thread doesn't exist. How is there even any elaboration?! It's basically 1+1=2

They often went that route vs Miami, FSU and other athletic defenses they faced.

And went 1-7 against FSU and Miami from ‘83-94 and barely won the game they did win. Didn’t face that caliber of D in ‘95.

I’m telling you, people. Y’all can suck off ‘95 Nebraska all you want but look deeper.

1. The three “top ten” opponents were frickin’ Kanas, Colorado, and Kansas State in the last year of the shitty Big 8. In Osborne’s 75 games against those teams I bet Nebraska won at least 70+. They always beat the shite out of those teams. And none of those teams had any real firepower. Really, who the frick played for them in 1995? Did any of those teams have a first round draft pick or All-American anywhere?

2. Switzer’s Oklahoma teams dominated Nebraska all throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s. By the mid ‘90s Switzer was coaching in the Super Bowl and OU had turned to shite. ‘95 Nebraska did not face a regular season opponent close to the Switzer teams that routinely knocked the Huskers out of the national title picture.

3. Florida had a young, tissue soft defense with no experience (on the field or sideline) against the Nebraska offense. Florida was a much more favorable bowl opponent than Nebraska had faced in years.
