So when this Mets deal officially falls through I am going to need a new team to root for, will be done with this trash organization until there is new leadership. Not sure how to go about picking a new team.

You’re an NY guy
Just move over to the other team

Starter Kenta Maeda would go to the Minnesota Twins part of the Mookie Betts-David Price deal, sources tell ESPN. Outfielder Alex Verdugo and hard-throwing pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol, who has been with Minnesota, would go to the Red Sox, as @Ken_Rosenthal said.

What the heck are Twins going to do w/ this excess of veteran starting pitching?

Even after the Mookie Betts' deal is done, with the Red Sox eating a ton of money on Price contract, the greatest $ obligation the Dodgers have in baseball ops will likely be to an exec, Andrew Friedman. No individual player owed $50m+.

@JonHeyman
Dodgers will try to keep Mookie Betts longterm. Talks may not start immediately but they hope this isn’t a one-year thing. They love Mookie, who was unable to come to a multiyear agreement with Boston despite its many tries.

Sources tell me the deal is

LAD gets: Mookie Betts, David Price, cash from BOS
MIN gets: Kenya Maeda
BOS gets: Alex Verdugo, Brusdar Graterol

Separately, LAD trades Joc Pederson to LAA for Luis Rengifo

Rosenthal: Mookie Betts still has his eye on free agency, even if a trade changes the equation

1/Depending on what #RedSox are eating of Price contract, #Dodgers may not even go over the $208M luxury tax payroll. They projected to roughly $33M under b4 deal. Betts/Price are $58M. So that is $25M over. But Pederson (who could get up to $9.5M in arbitration)

2/and Maeda ($3.15M). Save nearly $13M. So if Boston is eating $12M or more annually of Price, LAD would be close to the threshold.

#MNTwins giving up Graterol for Kenta Maeda is viewed as steep price throughout industry. But if it wasn’t clear before, it is now: They understand their window to win is now and they’re going all in on 2020.
