Catholic NI shuts out Newman 31-0 at Newman. Surprising score.

Don’t think it’s surprising at all. Catholic NI is a much stronger team. Typical playoff performance by Newman.

Central will get ran out of Neville. After that upset last year, be prepared for a totally different Neville team.

Neville may win but Central will be ready to play. They have a great defense and will not get run out of anywhere.

Thx for the correction brother. Hank’s 2003 West Jeff team went 10-0 and was loaded with talent including Marlon Favorite. I assumed they went deep into the playoffs. Further research confirms #4 WJ shite in the bed losing in the 1st rd. @ home to #29 Higgins. Their offense didn’t score a point 12-2 final score.

Hank was on the verge of building a solid football program at WJ back in the early 2000’s. Unfortunately, Helen Cox HS opened in 2004 followed by Katrina in 2005 as WJ lost a lot of talented players.

Watch the replay. The illegal formations were the right calls every time. Don’t be that team that gets beat by more than 3 touchdowns and blames the refs.

Well Katrina reshaped NO as a whole - 10 years post Katrina - NO NOLA schools won a state title.

The number of coaches that have take two teams to title games is impressive enough.
Don Shows, Jim Hightower, Louis Cook, David Simoneaux, Bill Stubbs, guy mistretta, off the top of my head - I am sure I am missing a couple

Lee Hedges also took three teams to title games Byrd, Woodlawn and Capt Shreve.

Didn't one of his WJ teams drop a game winner in a playoff game vs eventual state champ hahville?

At least two Texas high school playoff games were played in Louisiana today. Both at Turpin Stadium in Natchitoches. One this afternoon, and one in the evening.

Dangerfield: 62
Newton: 28

Port Neches-Groves: 31
Texas High: 28

PNG has great tradition. Amazing place to watch high school football.

Honestly wasn’t impressed with Central. WM offense is probably the worst left in playoffs and they still had chances until they decided to run shotgun in second half. Central offense was not very good.

West Monroe has not gotten any breaks all year. Tough loosing your quarterback on the road like that. Will the King kid be the starter next year?

Pretty sure that was the 2004 2nd rd of playoffs as WJ lost to Hahnville 21-24. The following week #2 seed Hahnville got upset by #23 Slidell. Evangel won the SC that year

no they didn’t. They played ok. But let’s be real ASH had two drops leading to one punt and another with two miscommunications on passes. If ASH never threw it they would’ve not punted all night. Byrd possessed the ball the entire third quarter. Byrd QB was a good player and they were patient with the veer. Two busted plays led to two Byrd scores. It was a good game. I think Byrd gave their best shot. Nothing dirty.

They did, Byrd was trying to basically chop block the Offensive linemen from ASH, not cut, but one engage and the other dive low. A lot of twisting ankles on JT when they could tackle him, that’s from his own mouth. Byrd also talked a lot of trash, but it looked like they were trying to convince themselves they could win. They found out they could not.

If you don’t think both sides talk trash in dang near every game I got news for you.

Define trying to chop block?
