Looks like only ten cars (one per team) go out for each session.
So here are the results of the very first official test session of 2025. Everyone ran mostly on medium tires. Only Lawson, Albon, and Bearman also ran on hards. Of course the lap times don't mean much, but there are a few things we can glean.
Mercedes, Red Bull, Williams, and VCARB look pretty good out of the box. Not sure what to make of Ferrari's and McLaren's first session.
Antonelli and Tsunoda did 78 laps, indicating no teething issues with the new car or major setup changes needed. Alonso did the fewest laps by far, with just 46, which could indicate that the Aston Martin had some issues.
Bearman ran 72 laps, the third most, but being 4.1s off the pace shows that Haas is on a very different program. Remember last year? IIRC, Haas focused on working on their tire degradation issues with long runs and didn't bother trying to do fast laps. Looks like they are doing something similar this year, even though they solved their tire issues last year.

They should make them build just a small Monaco car while they are at it

They also need to look at Monaco quali and make it single car hot laps or do something about red/yellow flags and timing or positioning. Too much frickery. If you cause a red or yellow, your top time should be deleted or time should be added for everyone else to complete a lap.

Call it the Schumacher-Rosberg rule to piss off the Germans.

I think you misspelled Perez.

That would be really cool.

I say this every year, designate Monaco a special driver's race. It still counts for the WDC, but at this race everyone is in equal machinery so we can make real comparisons. The drivers who are on slow teams would love it, and the drivers who are on fast teams would hate not having the advantage anymore.
A small (think '60s era), low-cost spec car with minimal downforce and a tiny low-tech roaring V-12 in the back. It would be a MASSIVE hit with fans.

Can't do anything without the tub for safety.

Here are the results for the whole day. Look at Williams up there.
And Haas, well we suck again.

I just meant '60s era in terms of size. Of course it would be a modern safety cell, but keep it small with no wings (but with a little bit of downforce from the floor). With a (small) modern V-12 spec engine, suspension and tires, it would be much faster than a 60s F1 car. Small footprint, low downforce, and non-super-hero brakes means more passing.
It's such a great fan-centric idea, that it will obviously never be considered.

I agreed with your idea. It would be awesome.

I like this idea a lot, not gonna hold my breath about it but I do think it would massively improve the whole situation, at least from a fan perspective.

Williams looks very promising. I think Haas will be fine, they must be doing a similar testing program as last year's first test.
Too bad that list doesn't indicate who ran in the afternoon and who ran in the morning. The fastest morning guy, Antonelli, was about 1.0s slower than Norris. So putting everyone on one list (with no context) is a little misleading.

They are doing only long runs, just like they did last year.

A bunch of has beens along with an overhyped wheelholder.
Want Caddy to do well, but feel they'd be sabotaging themselves with any of those drivers.
