As usual he's been on one all day

Finally getting a few free minutes and tune in just in time to see Kobayashi almost skewer someone coming into the pits.
He has been sticking that Caddy in 1901mm wide holes all day. Did it into turn one right on the first lap.

I have no clue what’s going on, but it’s nice to watch a race.

I just find it amazing how these things are essentially 24 hour sprint races anymore.
Part of that is due to the performance restrictions. The cars are not stressed like they used to be.

Since DPi cars are limited to a maximum output of 600 horsepower—a number that is readily attainable without resorting to outrageous tuning tricks—ECR is able to concentrate on making the Cadillac’s engine robust and reliable. And that reliability has been critical to its success in the series. Case in point: this year at Daytona, all four Cadillacs were still running when the checkered flag dropped.

At the half way point:
DPi the #5 JDC Miller MotorSports Caddilac is leading the #48 Ally Cadillac Caddy by 1.3 sec with 362 laps complete
LMP2 the #52 PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca is leading the #29 Racing Team Nederland by 1.7 sec with 357 laps complete
LMP3 the #74 Riley Motorsports Ligier is leading the #13 AWA Duqueine by 1min 24 sec with 347 laps complete
GTDPRO the #97 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes is leading the #2 KCMG Porsche by 3.4 sec with 344 laps complete
GTD the #70 inception racing McLaren is leading the #16 Wright Motorsports Porsche by 2.2 sec with 342 laps complete
There was just a yellow flag prior to the 12 hour mark so the leaders are really representative of all classes since many of the leaders pitted.

Dang it. I was rooting for the #48 Caddy because of Kobayashi and Jimmie. But Jimmie was the weak link on the team (the least experienced), and got in a tangle with a GT car that put the #48 in the garage. Now they are 23 laps down.
The other team I was rooting for was the #01 Caddy because of the three IndyCar drivers on the team. But something happened with them as well to put them in the garage, and they are 30 laps down at the moment (and they are still in the garage).
The driver of the #01 Sébastien Bourdais reported that the battery stopped charging. They were hoping for a quick fix (like replacing a belt), but he said the problem is in the harness, so it's taking a huge amount of time to fix.

Also the peacock app coverage is the best coverage I’ve ever seen for this race. Zero commercials. When the regular broadcast goes to break (which is a million times per hour) you just get live feed with sound.
The Peacock coverage has been fantastic. I agree, the best I've expereienced as well, for any endurance race. I've had the race running on my tablet all day. I can be working on, or watching something else and I can glance at the race at any time.

Guess I am headed to bed in a few. All the classes have multiple cars that cars that can win, it appears all but LMP3 may depend on pit strategy/luck. Both DPi and GTDPro have 5 cars within 20 seconds after 14 and a half hours. For DPi that means 5 cars have averaged less than .0334 a lap difference. Try to hit the start and lap "buttons" on your phone that quickly (you will never do it hitting start then stop) to get an idea how short of a time 3 hundredths of a second is.
My favorite classes are the "real car" classes in this case GTD and GTDPro. It is crazy at this far in the top 5 have four different manufacturers represented in GTDPro.

Live close to and pretty good friends with the owner of #60 car (Mike Shank). Great dude that is self made and has earned everything he has. He won the Indy 500 last year with Helio as his driver.
He partnered up with the Jim Meyer (ceo of Sirius) a couple years ago and put himself in a great situation to compete at the top

No doubt. I’ve left it on one TV the entire time. Was hoping to see the 48 up front when I woke up this morning but they must of had some issue over night. Since they are not in the running, I’m pulling for the 60 as Simon is one of my favorite Indy drivers.

Dale Jr is back on. Take a shot every time he says "LMPx Prototype"

We have a weird downvoter ITT.
Down to the last 30 minutes and has been a great race with little carnage.
Ben Keating is getting interviewed. I love guys like him that just do it because they love it and driving in 2 cars is nuts.

No way these guys make it to the end without a decent coming together

I got a kick out of Burton calling it the "Porsh Corral" last night.

Pretty great racing here in the last 20 minutes or so… Or seems like it’s pretty great from the viewpoint of someone that’s never paid much attention to IMSA.

The late caution made for some great racing.
The 2 Porsches fighting for GTDP with traffic is thrilling.
ETA the Ferrari chasing them is licking his lips at the chance of them taking each other out.

I damn near did...
I am actually more of a P car fan in sports cars so I was good either way. Vanthoor in the 2 car has got to be fuming.
ETA really glad the DragonSpeed car won LMP2 they are always such a scrappy team at Le Mans and so too the #60 with Helio winning DPi as well as it being both Acuras that beat out the 5 Caddys.

Incredible racing today. I love seeing the finish with so many cars in each class within seconds of each other. When I first started watching long ago, the cars would be so spaced out it was boring.
