RIP to a true Raider. I hated a lot of his moves, but he was always trying to make his team better.

Former commish of the AFL, and one of the most influential owners of the NFL/AFL. Without him football isn't where it is today. He was a pioneer. RIP, Al.

I love my Oakland Raiders and always will. I shed a few tears this morning..I feel terrible.
Going to see Raiders-Texans tomorrow with my father who is also a Raiders fan.
The Raider Nation mourns today.

How far back do you go as a fan??? The 60's???? I remember the 2nd sb. The Mad Bomber Darryl Lamonica and Warren Wells. Those were some great teams back then. And then along came Madden and the rest is History.

the NFL will probably own them until they're able to sell them. Kinda like how the NBA owns the Hornets.

edit: Assuming it's true that he doesn't have a wife or kids or anything

I'm only 18 but I am well aware of the Raiders history because of my father.
My father was born in '68 and has been a Raiders fan since he was a child.
Villapiano, Hendricks, Branch, Stabler, Ghost to the post, Sea of hands, Heidi game, Revitalization of Plunkett, Howie Long, Los Angeles Raiders, etc. I love it all. No other team like it.

I witnessed it all. My favorite team growing up. From 1973 to 1977 they made the AFC Title game.

Good times back then.

They made the AFL/AFC Title games in- 1967,1968,1969,1970,1973,1974,1975,1976,1977. Tahts 9 out of 11 years. AMAZING.

I'm old enough to remember Davis in the Raiders glory days in the AFL with Madden as the coach.

Living in CO all these years you grow to severely dislike Davis and the Raiders.

He was one strange but successful owner. He damn sure did it his way.
