This is the opposite of Duke Lacrosse. There wasn't a rush to judgment like what Duke did. What Baylor did appears to be diametrically opposed to what Duke did. A middle ground is what is probably called for. We aren't doomed to either have a summary execution at dawn or no investigation whatsoever.

the fact that Campus police handle such matters is ridiculous

Apparently football personnel were meeting directly with girls and then not reporting it. I'm sure they were just directing them to the correct resources and telling them how to file a police report though.
but my question still stands. which sexual assaults weren't brought to the police?
i completely get that under the current framework of Title 9, the university failed
but people keep saying "covered up" when they're mixing up police investigations with campus investigations

Let's all take the time to laugh at chip. He proclaims that Starr is getting fired and that there is no way anything happens to briles. And literally the exact opposite happens the next fricking day

I have to believe there is some really damning stuff because Baylor historically lets everything go for the sake of wins.
This is CFB in general....hell, look at Joe Pa....he may have covered up, or there least, ignored child rape for decades, and half the people up there want his statue back.

Looks like Kenneth Starr is getting the axe as well.

So what did they say in PC about the firing?
The fun buyout things now start up, which I am sure Baylor wont have to pay in full due to morals clause.

yes players were brought up on criminal charges and when they were indicted, they got suspended

and what Duke did was utterly terrible, so...

the "middle ground" is to let police investigate crimes
i'm not defending what Baylor did under current Title 9 interpretations. i'm saying schools should not be put in that boat because we're going to see either Baylor-like incidents or UVA/Columbia/Occidental/etc-type incidents. by the very nature of having biased, non-professionals investigate crimes, you're going to end up on the poles of the bell curve
leave it to the pros and if a victim doesn't want to go through the criminal process, then that's his/her choice

In the case of Baylor you should know that this isn't limited to football.

A trend you began two pages ago. I'm glad you've finally skimmed enough material on the matter to come around on this point. It's pretty much the most obvious issue in this case.

no. i was talking about Briles and you went to Title 9, which is a university issue
i've clearly stated that an institutional issue is under review
go to page 4 when before anyone else brought up Title 9, i said this

now has teh university made mistakes in the current regulatory framework? certainly

Briles fired.
Starr moved out of President role.
McCaw sanctioned and placed on probation.
Self-reported to NCAA.
Multiple others from both the A/D and the school admin not named have been fired.

Well, yeah. I'm assuming you're referring to Dave Bliss...that was somehow even more heinous. Isn't this supposed to be a Christian school? Yikes.

I think the most important thing is Baylor's Board finally got Ken Starr to apologize. That appears to have been one of their top priorities in this matter.
Seriously.

You really can't see why football staff meeting with potential victims and then not reporting it is devistating and fire-worthy?
Posted on 5/26/16 at 12:02 pm to SlowFlowPro
So explain Briles' weird-arse infatuation with dragging Chris Pedersen into this? It is the weirdest thing he did in response to all of this.
Posted on 5/26/16 at 12:03 pm to SlowFlowPro
You should probably read the actual report before you ask what Briles did wrong. It kinda sums it up there
Posted on 5/26/16 at 12:03 pm to usc6158
He sees the world as it should be, not as it is.
