He shot better from mid-range last season than Melo did. He was actually better than all high usage players other than Dirk and Ray Allen.

Not really. His career average is below Lebron's and might be below the NBA average. Perception biases are interesting, and there are clearly many people in this thread who have them.

Brace yourself for this next statement:

LeBron James quietly turned himself into one of the best midrange shooters in the NBA this season. According to NBA.com's StatsCube, LeBron made 45 percent of his midrange jumpers this season, which is an incredibly efficient mark for a high-usage perimeter player. Paul Pierce made 44 percent of his midrange jumpers. Kobe Bryant made 42 percent. Derrick Rose made 40 percent. Dwyane Wade, 40 percent. Kevin Durant, 42 percent. Carmelo Anthony, 42 percent.

Ray Allen shot 46 percent, barely edging out LeBron. Statistically speaking, out of all the high-usage perimeter players in the league, LeBron was the best midrange shooter not named Dirk Nowitzki (Dirk shot 53 percent -- he's a freak).

The actual stats come from NBA.com's statscube, which is unfortunately down right now

I'll take Kobe over Lebron solely because Kobe is an assasin at the end of a game when needed. Lebron is more of a Magician with a disappearing act. Yes Kobe is older and slowing down but on last second shots he usually nails it.

I'm convinced anyone who says shite like this is completely brain-dead.

I had to see it to believe it, but its only 3 % points ( My only come back ). However if you look at Melo vs Lebron the only blaring diff is assist.

It seems like you got this on lockdown. No need to bring up the winter's endless arguments.

Lebron is the most efficient and best player in the NBA. However, it is not a fact, but rather a very logical conclusion that can be easily reached.

Kobe is my favorite player, and I would want him the most on my team for next year for that reason alone. In my opinion, he is the second best in the NBA, but I think it could be easily argued to have him anywhere from 1-5.

You say its a logical conclusion, then you backdoor and say it could be easily argued to have Kobe anywhere 1-5. Make up your mind

I am saying that the ratings are not set in stone. I can see logical, or at semi-logical, arguments to move plays in the rankings.

My top 10:
1. Lebron
2. Kobe
3. Wade
4. Howard
5. Dirk
6. Durant
7. CP3
8. Rose
9. Melo
10. DWill

I am just saying that I am not close-minded about it, and I can respect other's rankings if they give a reasonable argument to why.

D. Wade is clearly a better player than Lebron.

How? With his inferior passing, shooting, and defense in comparison to Lebron? I am just wondering why you think this.

Clearly? Come on now James Francbro. I can see an argument to support Wade, although it isn't very logical IMHO, but clearly? Not even debatable?

the fact that Melo is not in the top five lets me know you have know idea what you are talking about. Come on dude, your first 3 are solid, after those 3 you must be basing your list on Sportcenter highlites. What are you basing this list on?

If Dallas would have lost to Miami Dirk probably wouldnt be in your top 10. I love CP3 but the arguement can be made that he isnt even the best PG in the league. And Dwight Howard should dominate the paint, the fact that his team is not in the ECF on a consistent basis bothers me.

A rough gauge of metric statistics and efficiency. Obviously, I slid some players up and down in some spots. I attempted not to create my list based on players I like or do not like (except I do admit that Kobe did the #2 partially because he is my favorite player, but I think he is deserving of the spot). I actually like Carmelo. He has really good last shot numbers, he is a tremendous scorer, and he is versatile and somewhat efficient on offense.

I am guessing you are attacking me for putting Dirk at the five. On the contrary, this was my top 10 before the playoffs started, and I saw no reason to change it. Dirk and Nash (my #11 player) were chronically underrated, and Nash still is. Furthermore, if I based my list on ESPN, then why would I have Rose at #8 behind CP3? Also, I have no rooting interest in the Hornets.

Then, where is Blake Griffin? Why is CP3 on this list? Why is Rose down at eight? Why is Durant only six? I do my best objective (other than Kobe) in my ranking of NBA players.

I am sorry that my ranking did not live up to your standards.

His team fricking blows. He played the Hawks 1 vs. 5 in their playoff series.

I was a hipster Dirk fan. Dirk has never left my top five in the NBA player rankings.
