52 years ago on Jan. 22, 1973, I was listening to the Mutual Broadcasting System’s round by round recaps of the Frazier fight and the following Saturday (this was on Monday, LBJ died the same day) I heard in real time “Down goes Frazier!” from Brother Cosell on the Wide World of Sports replay.

If you watch close, he tagged Moorer with some nice right hands before the KO punch, he set this up, it didn’t just happen out of the blue.

I remember listening to the radio and hearing Cosell, "down goes Frazier!"
At the time I was pulling for Frazier and was disappointed that he lost. Later I came to like George just as much as I liked Frazier and Ali. Fights were so great back then.
Sad to hear he has passed.
I still wonder sometimes about the Rumble in the Jungle with Ali. I am not prone to conspiracies and if I HAD to say it was probably just the heat, lack of stamina, and the greatness of Ali that beat Big George....but it sure makes a man wonder if something nefarious possibly happened, like something other than just water was in his bottle at ringside.
To his credit I don't believe George ever complained.
