McDermott should have been fired after last year IMHO
The chiefs offense was bad and he went in the playoffs again and was the only team that allowed the chiefs to abuse his defense

With just a mediocre defensive performance last year the bills are in the Super Bowl

Last year he beat the best team in the league (Ravens) then lost at KC because Joshie tarded out on an easy sneak

It's the most unfair HC firing in awhile especially given the fricked up roster he was handed.

Bills definitely overachieved this year relative to their talent

Let me further that point

Chiefs scored over 30 TWICE all last season in regulation

Once against Carolina AND ONCE AGAINST BUFFALO IN THE PLAYOFFS

It was the chiefs highest scoring game of the entire season

How he survived last year is the problem

The same chiefs team that went 15-2?

You gotta realize the playoffs are a different animal for a team like the chiefs. They can turn it on for games like that.

The Bills just fired a coach that went 98-50 in the reg season. Grass isnt always greener. Id be worried if I was a bills fan

Let’s make it even worse for last year

Buffalo in the playoffs against the chiefs scored the second most points against the chiefs all year

However, the Buffalo defense GAVE UP THE SECOND MOST POINTS TO THE CHIEFS OFFENSE

McDermott is just a playoff choke artist

Yeh because of their defense which Allen and the offense torched in the playoffs. , however, chiefs offense wasn’t good and scored this in playoffs :

23
32
20

In the playoffs. Know who the 32 was? Oh yeh, McDermott

This is as simple as you can’t be bad on your side the ball consistently and keep your job in the nfl. Offense scores 30 and you lose again in the playoffs, and they had a historically bad run defense this year.

New blood and make a splash trade for a wr going into the new stadium.

Winning that first playoff game cost them big. Getting Stefanski would have been great for them.

Its a scapegoat firing.

Not really. It's the end result of repeatedly failing to advance in the playoffs. That falls on the head coach always. Same reason Tomlin stepped down..

Not firing Beane is atrocious. Keeping the stadium in Orchard Park was beyond stupid and Pegula has already made $300M more than expected off of it while the city got zero surrounding infrastructure improvements. The Sabres have sucked for years.

frick Pegula. He’s a terrible, greedy arse owner. We’re about to suck even worse. Miserable.

People think Beane is safe are wrong as well. Time will tell. His promotion means nothing, same exact thing Pegula did last time right before firing the GM

When Bills hired Mcadermott, they kept the old gm to hire him and through the draft then fired him day after the draft….

13 seconds could’ve been the end.

I view this decision as questionable.

It feels like an emotional decision made in the wake of another painful end of the season loss.

My guess is Bills fans are thinking "Anyone could coach and get the same results that we've had with McDermott...so what's the downside."

And, of course, that's not necessarily the case. They better make a solid hire. And, they better start drafting better.

What about in all the losses when the QB balled out? At some point it'd be nice if the defense stepped up for once.

Even with Allens game they still put up 30 on a top defense. You'd hope that 30 would win you the game.

In the 7 playoff losses with Allen, the defense had given up 32 PPG

It’s emotional to say McDermott “didn’t deserve” to be fired. Allen has hidden for alot of people just how awful McDermott and his defense is in the playoffs for a defensive coach

It should’ve been done previously. Stretching to this year was the “against emotional reactions we will run it back” strategy.

I guess you had to do it

He is a defensive minded coach and just lost another playoff game 33-30

In 15 playoff games with Allen he has held a team under 17 pts twice

Vrabel in 2 playoff games with maye has already twice held a team to under 17 pts

This. The goal isn't to win two playoff games a year, it's to win the Super Bowl. This was THE year without having to deal with Mahomes, Burrow, or Jackson. He's either the guy or he's not, and he wasn't.
