ah, I'm reading it differently now. Penalty on not betting the nuts is different than not betting the nut flush

He couldn't have known he wouldn't get a call. If you have the nuts you have to bet. Plain and simple. If he knew the other guy had nothing then all the other guy had to do was muck his hand. Not to mention the other player would have had to be the last to raise in order to show.

if this penalty is true then it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of

what if Moon misread his hand?

It seemed the rules official understood it was minor and that's why he was only docked a 1 hand penalty.

read this

in that situation Moon wanted to see his opponents hand to get information. if he bets then the guy folds and he doesn't know what he played.

lol at moon checking and an even louder lol at him checking to pick up some reads.

Who in the frick checks the nuts on the river? Either one stupid individual or someone that is colluding.

Its a good rule and has been a rule forever. However, he honestly didnt know so it was good to see he only got a 1 hand penalty instead of a 1 round penalty.

This was a rule put in this year at the WSOP. Its not a standard rule at any casino...try it out....

This was to prevent colusion btwn players. There was a few people that were suspect last year...still a dumb rule if you ask me.

We can just agree to disagree. I witnessed someone get a 1 round penalty 3 years ago in a wsopc event.

Again, its a good rule and is in place to prevent collusion. Only 2 people check behind the nuts: stupid individuals and colluders. And 9 times out of 10, its shady

Yes. I remember because at the time I had no idea it was a "rule" And fwiw, the 2 guys in the hand were buddies.

What is the penalty exactly? You have to blind off for a hand or something?

Excuse my stupidity, but how does this prevent collusion? If we both check, I win the pot with the nuts. If I bet, my partner will fold and, you guessed it, I win the pot with the nuts.

Thats correct.

And you know for 100% fact that he/she will fold how?

Because we are colluding!!! If we are working together, why would he/she call. If anything, we probably have a predetermined amount or percentage worked out before hand to let the other player know to get out.

Edit: we are working to beat the table/ tourney not each other.

Although I didn't read the thread too closely, so forgive any redundancy, but is everyone convinced by Darvin's B.S.?

I'm not certain he knew he had the nuts. After all, he backdoored the flush and I honestly don't believe he knew he had the nuts - having watched the thing 3 times now.

He wasn't colluding or "trying to get information." He simply didn't know what he had.

The funnier part is that if I'm the villian, I wait to see Darvin's hand - when I'm beat, I muck. (Which sometimes can get you popped for slow rolling if you actually do have the best hand). Fix his little red wagon - he checks the nuts and still doesn't get to see my hand.

There's a rule that if you go all the way to the showdown, anyone at the table can demand to see your hand. I don't know why the rule even exists since it's considered bad form to cite it, but I had it pulled on me at a casino -- by some old fart who wasn't even in the hand.

If you play at PokerStars, and have the nuts, and another player mucks his hand before you get to see what it was, all you have to do is look at the hand history, and his cards will be listed there.

Do you think it was bad form for the table to gripe about Moons action?
