When I actually put teams on their seeding lines, I had Providence as an 11 and St. Mary's as a 12.
However, bracket protocols (mainly keeping conference teams apart until the regional final if possible) forced me to swap their positions.
I've never noticed this before (probably because the commitee never actually comes out and says "this team deserved a 12, but we gave them an 11, due to conference factors")

I'm curious,
Is there any weight put on the fact that Ohio State was on the bubble last year and didn't get in? Would that help them this time around with a semi-similar resume and a stronger overall conference?

LOL at this thread from yesterday.
Ohio State went from the last team in to a 10 seed.

Absolutely no weight is given to last year. I don't even look at team names and neither does the committee.
Their profile is pretty blah, but it doesn't have any real negatives. They have a 10-8 conference record, they are almost 500 on the road, they have no bad losses (unless you count Northwestern on the road by 3 a bad loss), and they are precisely 9-9 vs. the RPI top 100.
They pretty much beat the teams behind them and lose to the teams ahead of them. They are underwhelming to me, but I can't think of a good reason to exclude them.

They got routed by WVU at home, and I mean ROUTED.
Posted on 3/10/09 at 3:36 pm to KosmoCramer
True, but that was in December. And WVU is in the bracket as well. Illinois beat ya'll pretty bad, but every bubble team has a few clunkers in there. Margin of victory isn't that big of a deal. A loss is a loss, in the end. What OSU didn't do is lose to bad teams. They didn't really beat anyone either, though. They look like a classic 8-9 seed. An underwhelming major confernece team that doesn't impress but doesn't have look that bad either.

We lost the heart and soul of our team in David Lighty when he went down with a broken foot in early league play. That killed us.
We were very underwelming this year against good teams. But we started out hot beating teams that most thought were gonna be something (Butler, Purdue, Miami(FL), Notre Dame).

tOSU just needs to make sure they take care of Wisconsin, and put them in a precarious bubble position. They'll be fine if that happens.
Posted on 3/10/09 at 3:42 pm to BraveTiger225
They are in either way imo.
If they beat Wisky they are 8-9 range.

Yep. Ohio State wins a game or two in the Big 10 tourney and we could see them rise to an 8.

I agree and had them one of the last teams in YESTERDAY. Fortunately for them, teams like Niagara came up empty and Saint Mary's laid one of the biggest eggs on the big stage in quite some time.
Ohio State was never outed by me for longer than 12 hours. I think if they lose to Wiscy and lay an egg in the Big 10t, then they fall to that "last team in" status type.

Potential bid buster on ESPN. Butler-Cleveland State tied with 12 minutes left. If CSU wins, somebody gets the shaft.
Posted on 3/10/09 at 9:33 pm to BraveTiger225
I'm about to go watch that.
Man, does Gtown suck.
ND State gets a scare.
Cincinnati, who was never much of a bubble anyway, is now punching their ticket for another home game to play.

I love Butler Fieldhouse...seeing the place of the final game of Hoosiers, THE best sports movie of all-time, is very cool.

Would be a nice place to watch a game. One of these days I will get around to traveling that part of the country for basketball.

Butler loses and they are 8-9 status, no?
