don't worry he will get a big time reality check. If you really think about it, if he was playing elite level high school baseball, his competition has probably gone down since being in JUCO.
Considering he hit like .600 in HS and is playing in one of the best JUCO divisions in the country, I would have to politely disagree

His conference is a wood bat conference. Once the postseason started, he started using aluminum.

How dumb is this?

His particular conference is a wood only conference, but JUCO rules say that everyone can use aluminum during the postseason regardless of what their particular conference rules are. I'd imagine his team doesn't want to be at a competitive disadvantage

With wooden bats. I doubt the competition is that much better anyways. What he will see at AA and AAA will be way better than what he is seeing now.

well yea, but I still dont see how it's not pretty remarkable that, at 17, he's hit 29 HR's and driven in 84 runs while hitting over .400

He's obviously going to struggle at first, but so do all prospects

this is exactly what i have always wondered about bryce.. he clearly has been vastly ahead of the competition at every level of his baseball career.. all he has ever known is tremendous success.. i question and wonder how he'll handle being a professional.. and the moment he does experience failure.. from what i can tell.. he's not mature beyond his years mentally. i don't mind his cockiness all that much ( i don't know how anyone couldn't be somewhat cocky in his shoes ), but if it's true he acts above the game.. then i'm a little concerned..

again the guy is so talented. i don't know if i've seen anyone with the bat speed he generates. it's freakish. his bat speed reminds me a lot of mark mcgwire.. only faster..

1- i base that off the interviews i have watched of him talking. i don't expect a 16/17 year old to be mature any ways.. but it would have been a nice little icing on the cake if he was super well-spoken and mature. even on the 360 segment or whatever it's called he talked about the pressure to hit a homerun all the time is frustrating.. and you could tell it bothered him.. and he does come off as awkward. he is still just a teenager. i know.

2- thats why i said IF it's true. i don't believe it to be true. the nationals have come out personally and spoken to the talks of his attitude.. so obviously there is smoke.. but doesn't mean there has to be fire.

i'm not talking out of my arse. i never said he is or was. i'd prefer he stayed in high school.. but i can't fault anyone for going after millions of dollars. i don't like that his family uses the word "bored" to describe why he left the high school level after only his freshman season.

any ways i want to see bryce harper succeed. i am on his bandwagon.. full steam ahead. but forgive me for questioning how he's going to handle everything.

Whoever said that he stepped down in terms of competition from HS to JUCO should be banned from any future sports talk on this board.

Pilot's right in that there's a LOT of nonsense in this thread.

So you are saying players signed to professional baseball contracts are more than likely better than what he is playing against now at a JUCO?

Dumbass if you read the context of what i responded to, he was saying that it was a "good" JUCO conference and i was simply saying, who cares, it pales in comparison to what he is gonna see in the minors.

Just curious where these numbers came from?

So far all I can find (all games up to semi final of juco world series) has him at 23 HR and 68 RBI
