There is no way West will be moved (his contract is favorable) unless there is real value in return, and I just can't think of a realistic possibility.

did you think trading tyson for okafor was realistic? id bet you didnt

not at the position he plays...

Whose better production wise than him ?

Shaq, Yao, Howard ?

Not including PF's who play C (Timmy, Amare)

Okafor is a PF playing C (he is 6'10). He is in the next set of players behind Howard, Yao and Shaq. I guess he'd be closer to Camby, Kaman, and Bogut (but better than all 3). He is probably as good as Brand now (not as good as Brand was 2-3 years ago).

The Hornets are actually in pretty decent financial shape, all things considered.

I completely agree, I think they are probably doing as well as they ever have from a business standpoint. I still don't agree with your position that they weren't declaring an intention to dump salary, but it isn't worth arguing over either. To contrast that, I think it is very likely that the reason this deal happened is because Bob Johnson is getting killed on CHA (and likely elsewhere) and trying to flip his share of the team. Distressed sales usually have lots of value.

Yet you wanna replace him with the smaller Tyrus Thomas. OK

Yes, but Okafor will be on them for 5 meaning that it will affect them for longer than the 2 years left on Chandlers deal.

Who cares. Do you realize how difficult it is to find a legit starting center?

I know he has much more upside than Okafor, but look at Andrew Bynum's contract. Heck, look at Andrew Bogut's contract. You have to pay up to get a legit center in this league.

1) I dont think West is 6'9. I know Tyrus is 6'9. And can jump out of the gym. And he can run with CP3

Plus it was just an example... I wasnt advocating it.

What are some possibilities for the Hornets that involve trading West?

ugh. jesus christ, it was just an example

and good riddance if he is traded? NOBODY WILL TRADE FOR HIM BC BOWER SIGNED HIM TO A SHITTY DEAL

the only way to rid yourself of shitty contracts like that is to give up something else

Like what, Julian Wright? I love Julian as much as anyone, but Scott may have already ruined him.

Like I said, it won't hurt this team at all if any player on it is traded besides Paul or West.

Bogut makes 6M and Bynum makes 3 in 09. Not really the best examples, just saying.

people sweat West so much, but would he be an all star with a mediocre PG?

Whos Tyrus gonna guard? The opposing SF?

So that leaves the PF for Julian Wright?

Probably not, but his PPG has gone up every year.

Yeah, Bogut's contract is awful. You do have a point about overpaying for bigs. I mean at least this isn't Erick Dampier we're talking about.

Look at their contracts over the next 5 years or so. The numbers you are quoting are before their extensions kicked in.
