Why punish the football team? I agree, they aren't gonna be able to get a big though. They will have to go the Michigan route and try and find a Brady Hoke type dude.

Been saying this last night.
This is not a Penn St. football program issue.
This is an ADMIN issue.

If it can be proven that a child was traded for football booster money they will without question recieve the death penalty. The key word being proven.

Depends on the situation.
If it was just JoePa et all showing bad judgment in covering up for Sandusky, then a clean sweep of the football team, AD's office, and administration is enough.
If Madden's accusations about Sandusky and Second Mile selling boys to rich donors are true, then you've got a program which has decades of child abuse on its hands due to the close ties between the university and Second Mile. They weren't "officially" linked, but they had a tremendous amount of ties besides Sandusky himself. THAT would be enough to shut down the football program.

100 percent chance there will be a football team next year. Anyone saying otherwise is trolling or delusional.

Agreed.
It's ridiculous to think there won't be.
This isn't an NCAA issue. This is a federal issue. Has nothing to do with the program itself. It just so happened that the people that are involved worked in the football dept.

Hey, we agree on something. First time for everything.

Probably true about alot of things outside of Alabama football.

I agree, given what we know now. However, nobody knows what is around the next corner. Highly unlikely they would ever cancel a football season, but I wouldn't put 100 percent odds on anything in this crazy arse story.

hello I am delusional, I wouldn't bet on that just yet. This is just the tip of the iceberg, long way to next season.
Posted on 11/10/11 at 2:02 pm to Bubba Hotep
I cant imagine anything that could come out that would force them to cancel the season.

Major Penn State donors abusing Second Mile kids supplied by Sandusky on trips to university bowl games may do it. Especially if it dates back to before his 1999 retirement.
I'm talking a really high bar on what it would take, but that's pretty much what is being alleged by Madden.

I dont see how that would force them to fold the football program.

I think at the least, Penn State and the NCAA will allow transfers without penalty. You will see a mass exodus from the shithole the likes we have never seen. The next coach will start from scratch.

It is both. The fact is PSU football is the tail that wags the entire community, including PSU administration. That is kinda the point of the AD being charged, the HC being fired, etc. The coverup existed because it was intertwined with the all-powerful PSU football program.
Wake up, man.

Oh for sure. PSU is going to suck for a long time. Maybe SMUesque, but there will be a football team next year.
Posted on 11/10/11 at 2:19 pm to TreyAnastasio
They are going to suck, at the very least.
I don't think they will cancel the season. I'm just not ready to put 100 percent odds on anything related to this crap.
