I don't want to be over-reactionary but is it worth it to pay Arrieta after this season? I don't know if he can get back to what he was and he may not be worth the amount he'll probably get.

I doubt it. It appears that he peaked about 2 years too early. If he were a FA after 2015, he would gotten major paid

He was great in the 2nd half of 2015 and amazing to start off 2016. Now I don't think he would sniff $100 million

Boras will get him some dough, but unless he crushes it to finish the season, I dont see him sniffing what he could have gotten to capitalize on 2015

He probably should've negotiated when he had the chance. He's still going to get paid from someone but not nearly as much as he would've gotten IMO

Well he's not even eligble for FA until after this season, and Boras guys generally dont sign long term deals pre-free agency.
He is making over 15M this year on a one-year arb deal though

It's been pretty obvious for a couple years the Cubs were never going to pay for him. He wants like 6 years and cubs were offering 3 or 4.
