Every other camera cut is to the crowd, a row of fans, or of one particular fan. I feel like I’m watching people watch a baseball game as much as I’m watching the game itself sometimes. This only seems to happen for the CWS too but it’s way over the top this year.

Why is this fairly regular for CWS coverage but for no other sport or event?

Baseball is slow and boring so that doesn't help. TV also loves to overuse crowd shots for college sports.

No one knows the teams or players, and no one loves trying to turn something in to a human interest story than ESPN. I agree though, just show the ball

Someone said "Let's show a parent at every significant play" in a meeting and they went with it

I watch the crowd shots for milf boobs and the hilarious fan that picks his nose.

I appreciate it because it offers some entertainment in between pitches. It also allows for some great gif/meme making opportunities.

You try to watch an MLB game on ESPN. They try to interview the damn players in the middle of the game. They want to do everything but cover game

Was literally complaining about the same thing the other night with respect to their NBA Finals coverage. Every shot that isn’t on the court is panning the crowd. Like they’re covering a concert.

During the game last night they were late to cut from the crowd and went back to a pitcher already delivering the ball. I don’t mind crowd shots, but not at the expense of replays or even live action like they sometimes do

I have/do, and I can’t stand that crap. No player should ever be interviewed while he’s playing his defensive position, but they do it. I don’t see how this relates to the other poster commenting that the game itself is slow and boring.

I’ve always said that people who have that opinion just don’t understand what they’re watching.

I hate when they pan to the mom/dad of the kid hitting or pitching after every freaking pitch in the LLWS tournament.
