I kind of hate to see F-Mart let go of. Seems like hes a name thats been around forever but hes still just 23. Injuries have been the big problem with him. I dont have any problem with getting rid of Ankiel though. He's been terrible. I know we didn't expect much from this club this season but when your starters have a near 7 ERA after a month, changes have to be made. Humber and Bedard are both non factors to the future of this team. 4 inning Bedard already earned a demotion to the pen and Humber is working on earning a release.

I know I could hate on Prom's guy Carter but I'd say to this point, he's pretty much done what could be expected of him. He's a low average, mega strikeout but high power guy. Face it, Carter is gonna either be red hot or ice cold. Remember how bad he started? Then he had a 2 week stretch where he was on fire and now he's cold again. Lets just hope the slumps aren't too prolonged. He needs to be moved to full time DH. And I know his AB's usually end in K's but ya'll might be surprised to hear that he's #3 in most pitches per at bat.

I know not everyone has been able to keep up with them as much as we'd like....

But how has Robbie Grossman looked? I've read a couple of stories how since he's been up, his plate awareness has improved every game.

I know his BA is a little low, but all you can ask for is improvement every day. So I hope that's happening with him.

why spend money on big money guys when all they're going to do is cost the team money, become complacent and the club STILL ends up in last place?

I'm not saying spend big money. I'm not even saying spend kinda big money.

I'd rather have a team full of washed up veterans than once promising prospects that have been waived by their former teams...or at least a better mix between the two. I mean theyre all just place fillers aren't they? So why should it matter how old they are? I'd rather take the old guys with experience over a roll of the dice on a guy that his own team doesn't want anymore.

Our defense should look like this

C Castro
1B Pena
2B Altuve
3B Matty D
SS Washed up Vet
LF Washed up Vet
CF Maxwell
RF Washed up Vet
DH Carter

I can see how it looks like the owners and front office do not care. But I understand what they're doing. ....and they're doing it right! It would be nice to have a little more fun keeping up with them, but this year....it is what it is....I've accepted that and I am thoroughly looking forward to the future.

I think there are two groups of fans. One group, myself included, understands that there is no point signing guys like Hamilton and one or two other stud FA's if it just makes us a 70 win team. Of course Crane loves fans like us for our optimism looking forward because it's a ton of money he doesn't have to spend to appease us.

On the other hand, there's the group that has gotten impatient, and maybe rightfully so. Unfortunately we're married to the system we've put in play. Trying to make the most out of nothing would have meant keeping Pence, Bourn, Wandy, Lowrie, etc.

I brought up the fact that Singleton being suspended for 50 games sucks because we would have probably seen him before September call ups. He'll probably be that guy that the optimists like myself will point to and say "See, it's working."

Robbie Grossman

He's been doing OK. Been alternating between the leadoff and the 9 hole.

I honestly think we might be able to flip him for a prospect or two at the trade deadline next year if he stays consistent.

I agree with you here. Guys like Reynolds & Berkman would have been nice to watch with the way they're both playing right now. Instead we got Pena & Ankiel... awesome.

Well hes definitely not setting the world on fire. After his debut with the 2 doubles, he went through something like an 0-20. Since then, he's picked up at least 1 hit in 7 straight games and has 5 walks in those 7. He

I think it was pretty obvious that Berkman drove his bargain so tough, he probably gave off the "I don't want to play for a last place team" vibe.

Ehh. A guy like Grossman won't bring a whole lot of value in a trade. Someone like him isn't really appreciated by the non-statistician front offices. He won't have a sexy batting average or put up big home run numbers. In the minors though, he proved that he can be consistent and be a table setter by getting on base. Provides solid defense too

I honestly think he'd have a bigger market in the National League. I mean if we could flip Wilton Fricking Lopez for 2 prospects--one of which was a top draft pick...who's to say we couldn't do that with Grossman? (to a lesser extent, of course. I'm not saying Grossman is worth a first tier prospect)

That's why you've gotta be smart and sell to a really desperate contender who's new to being a buyer at the trade deadline.

Bingo. When there was all that talk that "he wasn't going to take a hometown discount" I figured that was a nice way of saying "I want to play for a team that might lose 60 games, not the other way around."

Thats what this team was the last years of Uncle D's reign of terror. Do not want at all....

I would much rather young guys with a chance to be something decent then old guys who used to be decent, but now just all around suck with no hope of improvement.

They cut Ankiel? Man the Mets could use him if he anything left in the tank. Could he DH in the American league or is it time to say adios?

Idk about DH I'm sure he's still a plus player in the OF but I haven't watched much of him this year any Astro fans feel free to correct me

Every team's got to have some veteran leadership. And since that doesn't come cheap, it's either vets in the twilight of their careers for cheap, or pony up the dough.

And this was in no way what Drayton was doing. If Drayton was running things, we wouldn't have Altuve, Matty D, or Maxwell, and Castro would probably still be rotting in AAA.

In my franchise on MLB The Show 2013, my Triple A pitching rotation is sick.

Cosart
Folty
McCullers
Lyles
Alex White

Ok back to reality:

In April & May 5 innings is good, but come June that needs to start getting stretched out to 6-7 innings.
