He was unhittable until He got Hurt Last season. I believe he would have won the Cy young again had he not gotten the neck Injury.

I mentioned awhile back how I hated the idea of going to arbitration with some of your key/important players and this tweet from Marcus Stroman today is a great example why:
Really glad we worked out that deal with George...

Lost arbitration. Is what it is. Looking forward to going out and dealing again. The negative things that were said against me, by my own team, will never leave my mind. I’m thick-skinned so it will only fuel the fire. Can’t wait for this year! #HDMH

Going to my first spring training this year. Any advice?
Also, what are the chances of an adult male getting autographs if I have no kids?

Enjoyed the discussion I listened via ESPN about the budding rivalry between the Yankees and Astros and how both should contend for the next 4-6 years.

I went to one game last year when they played Atlanta in Orlando. I know it’s not the same place but just get there early to take in the facility. It’s crazy how many fields there are. Plus the astros place is new so it should be even more impressive. Weather at that time should be great so sit in the sun, have a few beers and enjoy watching a bunch of guys who’ve hardly ever heard of playing the greatest game.

Yea. The Braves facilities are at the Disney wide world of sports place. It just so happened that the Astros were there the day after we flew in.

Laron Landry and Bregman working out together?

Jealous of Tuve's power. Yoked Bregs is going to crush this season.

Then I clearly don’t understand arbitration if he could win his case after being injured more than half the year.

Was listening to the mlb radio guys recently tell a story about a former GM (think it was Jim Bowden) regarding arbitration. The GM was in arbitration with a player one year and came up with fail proof statistical analysis against the player. Like he was only a .220 hitter, no pop, no speed, average glove, etc....just bashing the player. The player was basically average or below average in every statistical category that should be considered in arbitration. He said there was no way he was going to lose this arbitration case going into it...
Then the players reps presented their case. They completely didnt even talk about baseball stats. Their entire case was how the player was a role model in the community, did more public charity than anyone on the team, opened foundations for local kids etc...
The GM said as soon as he heard that argument, he knew the team just lost the arbitration. The players reps played so well to the emotional side that the baseball side seemed irrelevant.
Sure enough, the player won.

Interesting Joe smith info:
quote:
In the playoffs, the Indians used Joe Smith as their Baby Bomber Specialist. In all 4 of his ALDS outings, he came in to face Aaron Judge and/or Gary Sanchez. He got them out all 6 times, with 3 K's. And it sure looks like he might be seeing the Yankees again this October
