Conger traded to Rays for cash considerations.

Conger trade ends up as a net "pretty shitty" but his goofy ways will be missed.

Not a bad birthday gift to see the 2 most common reasons to be furious last season be let go
I'll give credit where credit is due though, both had some big offensive impacts at times. Seems like even when Hank would put up 4 god awful at bats, he'd have an important hit to follow it up
I will certainly not miss expecting every walk and single to be an automatic double though with his (shockingly to the point it was kind of impressive) inability to throw out runners

Holy lord, there are some mini melts on the TCB board over the Conger trade.
I'll brb because I'm upset over letting a guy go who plays catcher that can't throw anyone out and hits .220. I'm so angry we gave up a catcher that wouldnt have made it up to Houston before Stassi and a pitcher that bounced between the minors and no better than a #4 pitcher.
The only thing that I don't like is it takes away a little of the chemistry.
With them clearing these roster spots and payroll, theres no doubt in my mind that they expect to sign and/or trade for a few good players.
Id almost be willing to bet that it was Houston that offered Smardiza the $100M. Hopefully, the long term extension talks will go well with Keuchel

The 2014/15 version of Kike Hernandez? By the way, anyone see how well he did in LA this season? Hit .307 with 202 ABs and had an OPS of .836. Somewhere Ryno is crying about it haha

I haven't heard us being in on Madson. Wouldn't he be ideal for closer after last season? He had a great comeback year. I don't think he'd take q huge AAV and we wouldnt have to give up prospects for 60 innings a year.

It seems like they want guys with longer term control since Giles (lol) McGee and Boxberger are the names they've apparently been after so far. I would be all for going after Madson though and not having to deal someone. I saw the A's were apparently after him so you know he can't be too expensive

Also with Cong Dong gone I wonder if the Astros go after someone who could truly split time with Castro or if they just try to slide Stassi in to back him up. I wouldn't have minded them pursuing Dioner Navarro but it looks like he signed with the White Sox today
Also we probably said this 8 times last year but frick that trade for Conger. Tropeano and Perez

Was reading offseason thread on clutch fans and would like to announce I'm officially on board the trading for Lucroy or Derek Norris train
Add some bullpen and call it an offseason

Flowers would be a good platoon split with Castro, or Rosario. They both hit lefties well but Rosario has terrible Home/Away splits and isn't anything defensively. I'm ok rolling with Stassi as a backup but not a split.

I like Flowers a lot if they don't go big for someone like Lucroy. Ultimately I'm sure they will just use Stassi as a backup and start Castro

So long Cong Dong

Apparently, Flowers sucks at blocking pitches and gives up too many passed balls.
Here's a good question. Will Bad Knees/Mr. Triples get back behind the plate this season?

Neither one of them would have sniffed the big leagues in 2015.
Why people are upset over a trade for average, maybe below average players, is beyond me

Tropeano is still a nice guy to have in case of injuries in the rotation. Obviously Luhnow is great but it still wasn't a good deal, even if it was a small one

Listened to 10 minutes of Astro Line on the way home. Gattis is the guest and said that Vlad was his favorite player growing up. He's definitely no where close to Vlad but his wild approach at the plate makes sense now.
