I would rather give up Springer and some other nonessential prospects than the package that was posted yesterday, that's for sure. I would still be disappointed though. Fernandez was insanely talented when he was healthy but I have serious questions about sending away that much prospect depth for someone who has been hurt for a large portion of his major league career

I actually don't want Fernandez. Call me crazy but he won't be worth what we have to pay.

I kind of agree. I like that they're aggressive and at least asking though even if it stresses us out. If they could get him for a more reasonable cost I would be all for it.

I would be okay with giving up Appel, Reed, VV and then a lower prospect but I highly doubt that is enough.

I would do that as well. I always forget when they can trade Bregman, but I would be cool with giving him up as the headliner in this kind of deal too just because they have Altuve and Correa.

Replace Reed with Bregman and I will run on the field naked on opening day.

The killer in that deal posted yesterday for me was McCullers. frick that. I would still be hesitant if you took him out and replaced him with a prospect but with him in it no way

I don't see the point in trading our own young promising pitcher for another promising pitcher when you have to give up two or three more of your own prospects.
Is LMJ = Fernandez? Nah. But when you include the injured past, the gap shrinks significantly.
It's just not worth it. Springer, Correa and LMJ would be untouchable to me.

Here's a deal. Straight up. Their Jose for our Jose.
That would be an interesting one.

MLB Network talking about it now. They believe a Fernandez trade would almost definitely include LMJ.

The marlins can ask whatever they want because someone like the dodgers will pay for it. From our perspective why trade a already solid second starter, AJ reed who we hope is answer at first, plus two other good trade pieces.
Just no, its not worth blowing up the pipeline

People might tear me up for this, but I have huge concerns over Springer's health long term. I'm afraid he won't ever realize his ridiculous potential. Not saying I would go out and deal him tomorrow, but it would make him not untouchable for me.
I love Springer though and that stretch when he was healthy and spraying the ball all over the field early last year made me really excited about him all over again. And you could have the same health concerns about Fernandez.
Correa is 100% untouchable I think and obviously should be. McCullers would have to be in a trade for an incredible younger talent at a position of need, like a Goldschmidt

Why? He had a broken bone last year, and I don't remember what had him out at seasons end the year before. Is there a history of soft tissue injuries for George?

It was a quad injury. I just think the way he plays will lend itself to him getting hurt a lot. Which is tough because that's part of the reason I really like him as a player.

I think there is a difference between a health risk and just unlucky injuries. I think springer is in the unlucky category
To use a football example, Kwon Alexander tore his ACL senior in HS bama pulled there offer and he went LSU where he broke his ankle freshman year. Then he proceeds to go healthy ever since and be a beast at that. Maybe that's a bad example because of the riods.

The wrist injury was definitely bad luck, but the concussion he had earlier in the year could have been much more serious as well. Springer reminds me a lot of Grady Sizemore defensively with how he plays. He just has zero regard for his body.
And I'm not saying this like I want them to get rid of him, he's probably my favorite player on the team aside from Correa. It's just something to consider I think when talking about him as a trade asset or if they were to offer him a big long term deal. I highly doubt they deal him anyways so it probably doesn't matter
And I definitely don't want to deal him for Fernandez because his injury issues are more serious
