Astros have turned their attention to starting pitching now.

Likewise. This club is getting pretty close...

Why aren't they going after Chen? I don't see a problem with the guy. Solid #3. I don't have a problem with McHugh being a #2. Hes only a 19 game winner is all.

Lefty with a high fly ball % so maybe they don't like the idea of that at MMP

If they are looking for starting pitching, I get it. But it seems we'd want to sign/trade for someone better than anyone in the current rotation but Keuchel. If not, sign another cheap 5th starter type just for depth.

I hope they just get Kazmir back. Screw trading anyone else.

I feel like if we can get a dominant number 2 through trade we should do it. That would make this team legit ws threat. Pushing lance to number 3 is what we really need to do. He isn't going to pitch 200 innings. Your top two guys need to pitch deep and have a chance to win every time. Lance just won't pitch enough innings to be a legit number 2 this year even if he post great stats everywhere else.

Disagree.

Guys, McHugh is a 19 game winner and pitched well on the road in the playoffs. Yet everyone just dismisses him as just another guy. McCullers is not the 3 guy. McHugh is and he could arguably be a #2.

There's a lack of respect for what McHugh has done and alot talk initiating about McCullers moving ahead of McHugh.

Wake me up when LMJ has won 19 games. To be fair to LMJ, they both pitched solidly in the playoffs

Good point. Pitcher wins really do tell the story. Case closed.

Jabroni did not pitch well in the biggest game of the year. He was good down the stretch but teetered on disaster in a lot of his starts in the first half.

However you want to categorize him in a rotation I still think they need another starter. I don't know what their plan is for McCullers innings wise, but I'm guessing they will stagger him some again so he could be available for playoff starts. Who do those starts go to if your 5 man rotation is Keuchel, McHugh, LMJ, Fiers and Feldman? Feliz, Appel? And injuries will inevitably happen. I would rather get a SP now than have to deal for one at the deadline

Mctaggert and Drellich say the deal isn't likely to get done tonight.

Some things I have read say VV, oberholtzer, and fisher. Some say those 3 and a 4th. Which is it? TIA

These Phillies fans went silent after the trade. Once they found out McCullers wasn't a possibility they weren't interested

Giles 2015 highlights

Here's another fun one... #Astros have thrown 29 pitches 99 MPH+ since 2008. Ken Giles did it 37 times last year.

Man, I turn my attention to football for a few weeks, and they pull off Giles. Hate to see a high-ceiling guy like VV go, but I like the move.

Add eshelman to the deal. That's a lot of arms for a unproven closer. I bet gregerson still pitches a lot in the 9nth too

This is a great deal. Didn't give up THAT much for Giles. He will be a good closer for us for several years. Slide up everyone else an inning can only help. If we can re-sign Sipp, and get one more bullpen arm, maybe another lefty, I think our bullpen will be set.

Eh,I guess it could have been worse, but that seems to be a shiny throw-in on this deal. I would've been swole if Lunhow threw in a high ceiling guy like Martes though. At least we're not going to face these guys even if they do pan out.
