I’m excited about Hader.
I miss the ‘05 Qualls-Wheeler-Lidge deathwall we used to rollout.

The man, the myth, the Jabroni has announced his retirement.

Hall of fame vote will be announced tomorrow evening. Billy Wagner may well fall painfully short of election. Talking like a handful of votes shy.
Hes on 151/193 public ballots (78.2%)
There are 196 ballots outstanding
He needs to be on 141 of those 196 (71.9%)
In last years vote, he carried 72.3% of the pre-annoucement public ballots, 71.3% of the public ballots including those made public after the announcement and just 52.9% of private ballots. Seems like the private ballot voters know they're retarded so they hide behind anonymity.
So hypothetically if we assume a similar difference in last year's pre announcement and post announcement public ballots (-1%) well give him 77.2% of public ballots (248 votes). And then based on random selection just give him a generous 8% bump in private ballots (41). That would put him at 289 votes....3 votes shy of election.

All votes should be public. If you feel that you are qualified to judge the entire career of a professional athlete, you should be required to put that judgement on your record publicly.
Just stupid how these elitist "journalists" who never played a sport in their lives can derail someone like Wagner.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Jabroni. He was one of the first signs the Ludlow front office was on to something with pitcher development. Plucked him off waivers when the Astros and Jabroni were terrible and he turned into a really nice pitcher.
That plus the immortal Carlos Gomez gif made him a DAT legend for me

Yeah Jabroni saved my life in 2014.
I was barely hanging on and he was called up in May (I think) and pitched way above expectation.
I was listening to KBME’s 10th Inning Show and some kid from NO called and talked about a Tulane pitcher named Colin McHugh and how he was going to pitch well and he looked forward to his addition to the starting rotation and sure enough, he was spot on.

One of my favorite DAT nicknames. Literally some Jabroni waiver claim we'd never heard of who got a spot start and then goes posts 6.2 shut out innings with 12 strikeouts.

I am intellectually obligated to mention Col. Dave Egan, an old writer back in the day for a Boston publication, maybe the Globe
He was a MVP voter. Back then each voter ranked 10 players who received points in descending order from 10 to 1.
Ted Williams lost the MVP in a Triple Crown season because this alcoholic with a grudge left him off the ballot and he finished 2nd by ONE point.

The position player we need did not exist in free agency sadly. Unless you think spending $200 mil on Cody Bellinger was a good idea

The orange caps look their best with the current home whites.

The solid orange has disappeared from the rotation which is a shame. Probably my favorite cap. There's really not even a rotation anymore, it's almost exclusively navy. They wore the space city's on home Mondays, they wore the navy with orange bill 4 times and a few league wide occasion alternates.
LINK
The orange cap with navy bill officially doesn't even exist anymore.
ETA: apparently the orange was all but dumped after 2015

53.6% of the ballot is public. Wagner is at 77.7%. He's not going to make it. For Joel Sherman, Chase Utley is a hall of famer but Billy Wagner is not.

I probably don't choose to die on the Wagner for HOF Hill, but there's no real case for Utley
I'm glad they at least attempt to take it serious and create the debate for the veterans on the ballot. Just being in the discussion is an honor for their families, but you have to draw the line somewhere, and each exception widens the existing margin
