I just can't trust reports like that. Trying not to get my hopes up. I feel like White Sox people are just hoping this happens so we might be more inclined to trade for Sale.

McTaggart tweeted he still thinks we are more focused on Beltran.

I hope 39 yr old EE is worth it.

Let's see... He'll be 34 mid-season. Now, I am no math savant genius... But I think 34+5=39?

I am still mad they aren't putting an oil derrick that shots fireworks after every homerun.

If Cespedes only got 4 years I don't think EE will get more than 4. 37 & 38 yo Edwin are still a bit scary to think about, though.

I don't really care what he does in age 38-39 years, you get a guy like that for the next 2-3 years.

Yeah almost none of those deals end up paying out every single year. You hope the production in years 1-3 offsets the drop in years 4 and 5 or whatever

Encarnacion will most likely be an Astro by the end of the day! Would be a nice boom.

Gotta wonder if the CBA talks would affect if/when we sign him. A little over 12 hours until it expires

ETA saw Richard justice tweet this an hour ago

MLB CBA negotiations lasted until 5 am CT in Texas. Some progress. Significant issues remain.

So, this is the lineup we could have by day's end.

vs. RHP

Springer CF
Bregman 3B
Altuve 2B
Correa SS
Encarnacion 1B
McCann C
Reddick RF
Gattis DH
Aoki LF

vs. LHP (as in, ace-level lefties)

Springer RF
Bregman 3B
Altuve 2B
Correa SS
Encarnacion DH
Gattis C
Yuli 1B
Teo LF
Jake CF

IS THAT GOOD?

Just read 5-6 articles on E5 so I forget the source it's from, but one mentioned he is probably going to wait for the CBA talks to be completed before signing anywhere. I think it was from one of the yahoo writers.

He is waiting because if the luxury tax threshold goes up to $200 or $210 million then teams like the Yankees and Red Sox might be willing to jump into the fray and drive up his value
