Why do yall think Espada is some great coach? Have you ever heard him speak? I have. And I can see why he hasn't been hired to manage a team.

1) Do you even frick Off, Dusty Baker? I could stick a toothpick into the arse of my neighbor’s retarded Shar Pei and get just as much usable conversation as another season with Dusty.

2) Many players past and present have said that Espada is the guy that truly bridges the Old School grit with the New School tech. He gets it.

3) Please go on record with your personal choice of a post FODB world?

I don’t know him personally, but I caught a 15 minute segment on MLBN Radio discussing his resume. I can’t recall which broadcaster it was, but he knows Espada personally and said he is ready for the job and expected him to get the Mets job.

Went on to say that if he didn’t get that job, another opportunity will come soon.

I saw that earlier today. What’s the story? He seems to have tread left on the tires.

The Astros are adding a top young outfielder from the Dominican Republic to their system as the international signing period gets underway.

According to industry sources, the club has agreed to a $700,000 deal with center fielder Kenny Gomez, No. 42 on MLB.com’s Top 50 International Prospects list. The Astros, who have a signing pool of $5,179,700, have not confirmed the deal.

Two words come to mind when evaluating Gomez: bat and power.

The offensive-minded outfielder is advanced for his age and continues to make progress. He already sees the ball well, tracks pitches, and knows the strike zone. He’s also shown the ability to use the entire field and has the potential to be a plus hitter with solid average power.

The polished young hitter has a knack for working counts deep and doesn’t swing and miss often. He’s mastering the art of driving the ball to the opposite field with authority.

He has the tools to stay in center field, which includes an accurate arm.

The quoted article says he's Dominican but he's not, he's from Cuba. We love our Cubans don't we folks?

It does make me happy to see the Astros continue to go all in with the international market. Can just as easily find gems signing 15-20 guys in that market than guys in mid to late rounds of draft.

The Astros also are high on 18-year-old Dominican outfielder Luis Báez.

“Luis Báez projects to be an everyday right fielder with a special bat,” Dominican Republic scouting supervisor Alfredo Ulloa said. “Báez has a solid and durable build with above-average strength for his age, which translates into present power. He projects to hit in the middle of the order with HR/RBI production, and shows four solid tools on the 20-80 scouting scale. Luis has continued to develop his bat and his defensive abilities, and we are excited to add him to the organization.”
