They have some ground to make up on the luxury tax threshold but it looks like all the perimeters are roughly agreed upon just from browsing Twitter.
They got to get in there today and figure the rest of the numbers out and let’s get Spring Training started

I've lost track of our needs in free agency. Here's what we knocked out before the lockout
Signed:
JV 2 years $50 million
Hector Neris 2 years $17 million
Free Agents signed elsewhere
Kendall Graveman 3 years $24 million White Sox
Yimi Garcia 2 years $11 million Blue Jays
Brooks Raley 2 years $10 million Rays
Free Agents unsigned
Greinke
Correa

At least one other reliever, preferably two
OF of varying quality who can play CF (maybe just 4th OF type)
Some fringe utility option that can play a competent SS (maybe just a minor league deal)
I’m interested to see how the final rules on service time shake out to get an idea of whether Pena will be on the opening day roster. Also where the tax line ends up is important to us it seems like

Are we still confident that Correa goes elsewhere?

Yea I’m pretty convinced he’s gone unless he’s had a major change of heart and would be willing to accept a shorter deal with an opt out after year 2.
If that’s on the table I’d think the Astros should throw their nuts on the table and make him say no, but if he’s hell bent on ~10 years I wish him well

Not an addition but there’s probably still a question whether we trade Odorizzi too.
Guessing that could go either way depending on what’s being offered

We've got a 39 year old coming back from TJ, Glassman Lance apparently still isn't recovered from his playoff injury and won't be ready for opening day. Hanging on to Stink might be necessary to cover for injuries.

Yeah I think I’d rather keep him unless some team really wants him, which seems unlikely

I was thinking about that last night what to do with Odo and then remembered Lance not quite being ready if the season starts on time.
He was pretty good out of the bullpen in the postseason, doubt there is a full time spot for him there with his lack of plus stuff.

I think if we end up keeping him he’s going to end up with close to a full years work for the reasons stated. And he’s better than say Peter Solomon or something with that in mind. It’d be cool if he had some self awareness about his abilities and role and not bitch to the media about it, but that’s not a great reason to get rid of him.
Maybe a team desperate for rotation depth offers something of value then I think you move him

Kind of forgot Chas figures to be our CF and Jake Meyers isn't ready for the season after torn labrum surgery.

Yeah I think we need a ML level OF who can play CF for sure. The selection on that front in FA is absolute shite too. Seems like it would have to come via trade

Crane will stand pat. No pressure to add this year.

fricking Mets. I was head of the Marte Parte planning committee. I can't use any of those supplies for Chas.

Marte would have been great. The Rays seem to want to unload Kiermaier’s salary, he would cost next to nothing in trade capital I would think. Light bat but maybe the best defensive CF in the game (could platoon with a Chas or Jake). Not sure who else profiles as likely available in a trade

Think about it. Payroll still high. Will lose Correa but have 2 or 3 MLB near ready bats coming up. If they add it will be bullpen depth or OF depth not a big name bat.
Next off-season I could see them adding someone to replace Brantley.
