It’s the rule.

Can’t take a medical timeout.

But he can forfeit the game and go try to get hydrated. Didn’t seem like he did much to get hydrated, though.

If people haven’t figured out a way to watch yet, deposit like $5 in fanduel and watch their live stream there

What happened on the forfeited game? I just came back in and they were booing?

Carlos started cramping bad. First his hand/wrist, he could barely grip his racket at 40-30. Then his right calf started cramping too. Apparently you can only take an MTO for cramps at a changeover, so he wasn't allowed to take it at 1-1. Absolutely ridiculous rule that kind of ruined this set and maybe the match. Might be in better shape here if had gotten immediate treatment and fluids. Instead of having to limp to the chair by his own power and only a very very short timeout after forfeiting his service game.

Funny that when Djok was 20 he was the one quitting on games and now he’s the old man benefitting from a young guy doing that. Time is a flat circle.

So if you're gonna forfeit the game anyway, why not just tank 4 points and then take a "proper" full MTO?

Is he not allowed to have a bottle of water with him right now?

FanDuel doesn't allow you to go fullscreen. It works well on a PC, but watching on your phone, I prefer MGM or BetRivers.

Agree with McEnroe. Alcaraz should have just made something up besides cramping. It would have been allowed and nobody would have questioned it.

eta: Announcers said that you can't take an official MTO for cramps. You only get normal changeover and in-between sets breaks.

He's slowly moving better. Between meds and another decent break he'll be fine at some point imo. But it might be too late.

Barely. Nowhere near enough to compete, even if he starts feeling a little better.

He’s got a long way to go and doesn’t look like he’s doing much of anything about it.

Will be almost over by 11 a.m. Unacceptable in 2023.

He’s taking one big swing and that’s the point. I’d take one more shot at it and then retire.

Good point from Jim Courier in that Alcaraz by the end of that Sinner match in Miami was back to 100% after earlier cramps, can only hope for the same here.

Would hate to see Alcaraz cramp up and not make this a competitive match.

Any idea on why he's cramping? ... it's certainly not hot there. Maybe he's sick?
