While some of that may be true. This board was a perfect example of what people do nowadays when they already dislike something. They hate-watched SC6 at times. Then ran to internet forums to complain about it.
Also, I can remember folks complaining about Michael Smith when he was a regular on "Around The Horn".

So @espn just issued a press release bragging ratings are up 19% since they fired Jemele and Michael off WokeCenter.
Poor Jemele

I just watched Numbers Never Lie. I've never like Around the Horn, PTI, or any of the other talk shows.

ESPN should stop being tmz sports and actually have in depth coverage of sports. I’m tired of the MJ vs Lebron debates, what an athlete is doing on Twitter, and what pop star is at a sporting event. I watched MLB Network yesterday and it was refreshing to see actual discussion about a team like the Mariners.

That's really not a new term. Clay Travis has been using it for years.
Yeah I know I'm just messing around right now

This speaks more about ESPN's issue imho (Not so much the political angle). Every major cable channel is trying to figure out a way to handle the lost of subscribers while trying to be fresh and new. ESPN gets most of the spotlight because they have a huge contract with America's favorite league (the NFL).
Agreed. ESPN gets flak for the politics (don't get me wrong, I don't like politics mixing with sports, either, especially of the leftist variety), but it's really battling the cord cutters/rise of a la carte entertainment. You can get highlights anywhere at anytime, so that doesn't differentiate ESPN anymore.

was heard characterizing the show as "too black."
There is a difference between "too black" and "too not-sports."
Unless too black also means that you have a rampant policy of trying to make everything race-related.
And I would hate Jamele Hill on my TV no matter what her race is. She is awful television.

nternal discord over the 6 p.m. SportsCenter experiment co-hosted by Jemele Hill and Michael Smith — and yanked after less than a year despite four-year deals worth $10 million each — still lingers.
This was just stupid. ESPN has become reckless with their contracts.

I've never like Around the Horn, PTI, or any of the other talk shows.
That being said, it's pretty clear these types of shows have viewers. Every other network in some way or another copies them.

More importantly, they are cheap

And the irony of being cast as a target of the right is that much of the leadership in Bristol is actually conservative.
Which leads to the biggest irony of them all, which I’ve said for years.
The politards on this board apparently have a problem with rich white men trying to keep their business relevant in a rapidly-changing marketplace.
Sounds like the problem isn’t ESPN. The problem is Capitalism. I guess Capitalism is only good when businesses suck up to rich white people.

Absolutely. They weren't for me. What's your point?

The world watches some garbage arse TV. Whenever I'm stuck in a waiting room forced to watch whatever gobbledygook happens to be on I just marvel at how some of these inane shows stay on air, ESPN or otherwise.

No they wouldn't. It's so easy to get highlights through different sources these days.
