Seeing him used to piss me off, because of the shitty job he did with the Saints.
It was pretty clear by the end of his run with the Bears that Ditka was not good at managing a football team - I blame Buddy D for the Saints hiring.

ditka was just a famous name that didn't bring much besides cliches to the table as an analyst
Couldn't that be said about 1/2 of the former players that are now analysts; especially the ones on that set.

On a serious note, Hasselback is a great choice. Dude has been around football for a long time and should be able to talk about history and the current state of the sport with a lot of experience.
You would think Tim Hasselbeck, a current ESPN employee, would get the nod over Matt.
Tim is great.

the senile old shite said if he had run for the U.S. Senate against Obama in 2004, he would have beaten him.
There may be a lot of truth to that. When it comes to politics, a lot of the uninformed people (which makes up the majority) typically side with the name they know.

Why bother replacing him? Especially if they're in cost cutting mode. Not like they don't have a thousand nfl analysts already

Ditka is always Ricky Williams in a wedding dress to me.

Timmy Hasselbeck must be pissed.....Elizabeth too

I think the segment needs to stop anyways, but if we don't have to hear Ditka say "c'mon man" anymore, this works out for the best.

quote:That's just fricking dumb. He's been consistently anti-Obama since before they even hired him. Hell, when Obama first ran for senator in Illinois, Ditka made a lot of noise against him and even talked about challenging him for that senate seat. So by your logic, Ditka would never have even gotten the ESPN Analyst job in the first place, much less be allowed to sit there and keep his job for a decade while doing no prep work whatsoever, adding no depth or insight whatsoever, and just metaphorically and literally ripping farts on the set. He's the ultimate gasbag.
This is just a coincidence? There was already a precedent set by ESPN.

So it's gonna be CC, C Woodson, Hasselbeck, Tommy, and Boom.

He was fricking terrible on that show and had a huge contract. ESPN is broke, therefore they're shedding all the un-necessary contracts they can.
