I swear the Saints fans hate the falcons more than love their own team. Kinda like GT to UGA except the Saints have actually won something as of late.

Yep...A lot of Saints fans are going to be jealous of Matt Ryan playing better than Drew Brees right now..

No one is saying Ryan is a better QB than Brees.
All I said was that he has a chance to take a step forward and be one of the better ones in the NFL if he's able to beat Manning head-to-head tonight.

Like we haven't heard that for four years. 2 weeks without a head coach, asst coach and no pass blocking, and brees is still putting up points and big yardage numbers.
Matt Ryan plays a defensively depleted chiefs defense for one game and already he's the next coming of Jesus Christ.
Forgive me if I don't take Ryan seriously just yet.

Ohhh, you're one of those guys.
Lemme guess, Brad Johnson is a better QB than Dan Marino because he has a ring right?

Dear God...
I hate the Falcons and Saints, so let me get my opinion in...
Matt Ryan can't hold Drew Brees jock. Period. End of story. Now, the Falcons may have surpassed the Saints as a team this year, but there are some extenuating circumstances for the Saints. Matty Ice still has his coach and a trio of Julio Jones, Roddy White, and Tony Gonzy. He has the superior playmakers. Offensive lines are about even, IMO.

This was the original quote. Who is playing better RIGHT NOW? Matt Ryan is. That's not even up for debate.

After only one game against a cheifs team that got blown out by buffalo? It's absolutely up for debate.

You really expect anyone to read all that shite?
Again, no one is saying they're on the same level thus far in their careers. Ryan does have a chance to make it into that upper echelon this year because he has more solid players and a competent assistant coaching staff around him.

I didn't expect that info to be read entirely. My point was, every year Ryan is HIGHLY touted, and every year it's a choke job. If he pans out this year, then good for him. But to act like a blow out win against the Chiefs is legit data to already say he is going to become elite, is a joke.
Technically he has a "chance" every year. But that's all we've heard "every year". After a while, it's the boy who cried wolf.

It's been one game. I don't disagree that he'll have a great year, but the fact you guys think he's going to be upper echelon after 5 years already is getting old. He won't be a top 5 qb in the league.

Pans out? You're saying this like he's a bad QB... he isn't. In fact, he's been one of the better ones in the league when the game is on the line.

This is my point. The opportunity is there for him. But it's all we've heard about for 4 years without results that are even close to showing he is a top 5 QB.
If he does it this year, again, good for him. But until then, I'm not buying the hype.
Posted on 9/17/12 at 5:44 pm to dawgdayafternoon
Pans out was a poor choice of words. I meant if he takes that next step.
Posted on 9/17/12 at 5:48 pm to dcrews
I do think it is a little premature to say Matt Ryan will be a top 3 passer this year....BUT, it does look likely. Offensive line looked better so far, and Roddy White looks like he decided to show up this year. With a new offense, all signs look good.
And ATL 38-35

We won't waste our time running Michael Turner for 2-yard gains anymore. We're gonna put the ball in Matty's hands and give him more opportunities for big plays.
That's the biggest difference from the previous 3 years we said he would make that next step.
