High school recruiting is dead dude
This is true.

And I hate that, as I believe the best way to build a roster is through HS recruiting and relationships.

Now, those relationships mean nothing to the team that lands the recruit out of HS, and everything to the other guys that will offer a better deal after the player has developed some and is ready to play.
So you agree the fanbase hasn’t given up? Good to know.

Furthermore, their fanbase has completely given up.
That must be why the stadium has been full for every home game 2021-present (since we’ve sucked that long, you know).

Retard.

Yep. Jalen Hurts has always benefited from his supporting cast, from Alabama > Oklahoma > Philadelphia.

re: Does Alabama have a GM?

They have Courtney Morgan, with whatever he does. They slobbered over him when he first got there, but he’s received a lot of backlash lately on BOL.

They made that douchebag a mod on the Arkansas board? That’s terrible.

re: Cam Coleman to Texas

He was never going to Alabama. He essentially trolled them, got the $50,000 they offered him to visit and ended up at Texas - like everyone expected. This was nothing more than a courtesy visit from Cam Coleman.

we have a list.
A list that includes commits that weren't even on roster? Yikes. Hard to be considered roster turnover when you aren't, you know, on the roster.
quote:

1/20/24- Kadyn Proctor commits to Iowa
Also, no reason to have him on there. Kid came right back after stealing 100k from Iowa.

AND the roster was still elite, being mentioned as top 3-5 in the nation.
quote:

Not having extreme roster turnover is the entire thing that made the Saban Ferrari doofus.
In another era, sure. This is the NIL/TP roster. Nobody avoids at least a little roster turnover. This is why Nick Saban retired.

Also, one off-season of losing players didn't erase the entire, elite roster Nick Saban left behind.
quote:

Now since you have so much time lay out au for us.
I don't think I have the time to type all of that misery.
quote:

You claimed he inherited a Ferrari.
He did.
quote:

Now you are saying he could have got one in the transfer portal.
No, I didn't. I said the roster turnover isn't anything out of the ordinary in today's TP world. He had an elite roster.
quote:

26 players that transferred.
That's simply nothing everyone else isn't having to face now. It's expected every off-season you're likely going to lose at least 20 players to the Transfer Portal.

And if you look back, 26 players after a coaching change isn't that bad. Auburn is at 31 right now. Iowa State was left around 16-17 remaining players that didn't hit the TP.
quote:

For sure. I think this is a do or die season for him, others think he'll be given a 4th season no matter what. Regardless, the clock is ticking now.
I also want to stress that this just is what it is based on how successful the program was starting in 2008 until Nick Saban retired.

What Kalen DeBoer has done thus far isn't terrible by any means, but it isn't what is expected.

The next issue you face is, who do you hire? Guys like Lane Kiffin, Mario Cristobal, Kurt Cignetti, Demeco Ryans, Steve Sark, Kirby Smart, etc, aren't making that change.
quote:

Alabama has no one resembling a Henry, Harris, Richardson, or Gibbs.
It wouldn't matter if they did. They would have nowhere to run.

Also, you don't have to be a "NFL quality back" to be insanely good in college.
It can be good to a degree.

There are a lot of USF Bulls I would welcome, but it doesn't need to get out of hand.
quote:

but it is funny to me that all this doom and gloom is happening after a SEC title game appearance and a quarterfinal playoff appearance
I think that has to do with just how successful Nick Saban was.

I think it's pretty clear, at least to me, that Alabama overachieved this season and it wasn't because they lacked the talent to compete and win.
quote:

You have my agreement!!
When I think of Alabama, I think of 2 things: (1) running the ball effectively (2) bullying the opposing defense with the running game

I look at Alabama and the current RB on roster are not the problem, and neither will the RB that enroll soon. I don't view the team as lacking talent on the OL. It seems like more of a scheme/preparation issue and a softening on that side of the ball.

Times are changing in Tuscaloosa...

I still don't think Kalen DeBoer is the guy for the job there. He inherited a Ferrari, but it's not much of a Ferrari anymore. The whole team's demeaner and identity has changed.

Just a look into his first 2 seasons...

In his first season, 2024, all we have to do is see that he missed the CFB Playoffs. Complete failure given what he was left to work with. Also, Alabama lost to Vanderbilt, got blown out by Oklahoma and then lost to a terrible Michigan team (for the second time that calendar year) that had half it's roster missing.

In his second season, 2025, some might not consider it a failure, but it was. Alabama got whipped up and down the field to start the season against a terrible Florida State team. The "ranked gauntlet" they faced during the middle of the season didn't turn out to be near as tough as it seemed at the time. They struggled and barely managed to beat both SCAR and Auburn, two awful teams. They got beat, again, by Oklahoma, got belt to arse by Georgia in the SECCG, somehow managed a miracle to beat Oklahoma the second time around in the CFB Playoff after being down 17-0, and then got belt to arse again by Indiana - 38-3.

When was the last time you could say, "man, Alabama can't even run the ball?" Here are their stats to end the season:

vs Oklahoma: 80 yards
vs Auburn: 158 yards
vs Georgia: -3 yards
vs Oklahoma: 28 yards
vs Indiana: 23 yards

I'm firmly believe Kalen DeBoer is on the hot seat entering 2026., and I'd say about half the Aabama fanbase agrees.

What is really interesting is some Auburn lineman named Broderick Shull wasnt even enrolled at Auburn in the fall and rarely went to practice but he wants to return.
He was highly rated out of HS.

But yeah, something about mental health and then someone mentioned he was gay, or something. Thread got whacked on On3.
