I think the lawsuits that will say "rule changes caused the death of my career" will be just as serious. people are still getting concussions, so those lawsuits won't end. they've just compounded their problem.

they're both serious, don't get me wrong. but one is linked to suicide and the other isn't.

Everyone acts like these hits never happened before the rule changes I agree that players are diving at the knees more now but I think even if this play happened 10 years ago the results would be the same. Gronk is a big ol dude it's a lot easier to cut out his knees than to get run over hitting him high.

I agree. I'm just saying now instead of fighting one problem, they've created another and may have to fight two without really fixing the first. they've compounded their problem.

Pats have had terrible injury luck this season. If that is season ending on top of all the other injuries y'all are probably done. Could have been a superbowl season too

I wouldn't say dirty. He did launch himself, and it's probably an illegal hit, but then again, he's a small guy trying to bring down Gronkowski.

Oh well, NE will have half a pro-bowl roster on their IR by the end of the year.

Gronk running with the ball, the safety dove at his knees. Pretty much another casualty of the "you can't hit high" rules.

I don't care what rules are implemented or what era 99.9% of the time a 195 DB (like the one who made that tackle) is going in low on that tackle to bring down a 6'6 270 TE. Period.

Is this the 1st time you all have seen a DB 'up-end' a runner? Gtfo

The Mel Blount rules that allow receivers to run around nearly unchallenged is much of the problem. But they will never repeal that rule because they want more passing & scoring.

Get rid of the Mel Blount rule see bigger more physical DB's & less of this pitch & catch/pass happy nonsense.

I hate this new passing League & receivers/qb's have benefited immensely. Chickens coming home to roost.

Sometimes it's just not your year. It sucks and all that, but when it comes down to it, luck is a huge part of any Super Bowl team. Oh well, at least I'll be a CPA by the time they get into a Super Bowl again!

The ticker at the bottom of the screen had his return as questionable. Is this just because they don't have an official update yet or because it wasn't as bad as it looked?

Hopefully it isn't as bad as it looked. The J. Thomas one looked horrible, and he's not out for the year.

Hopefully he's ok. If his knee had been planted when that hit happened it would have been much, much worse.

RIP Gronk's knee.

This will hamper him for the Ultra Music Festival.

I don't think it was illegal. Gronk caught the ball and took two steps and was mid stride. Just shitty luck IMO

Patriots are done as serious Super Bowl contenders. There are just too many injuries. Svitek is just not good enough to play in this league at tackle, and it's showing up today.
