i dont know i cant criticize the guy for a gameplan when you have only 5-10 minutes of film footage to watch the guy.

i guess he thought he could negate carwin's physical strength and power. yet carwin has had that type of freak animal strength since high school and college same thing with lesnar.

By the way, WTF was that Mir gameplan? Try and stand with the hardest puncher imaginable when you are a BJJ guy to begin with? lol

I posted this quite a few pages back..

Mir is in no-mans-land in his career. He isn't big enough nor have the hammerhands to beat Lesnar nor Carwin, and far too overconfident and needing to engage them in close to get his needed submissions, yet isn't as thick nor bull strong like they, plus has that bad knee..can't take blows by those giants to his melon.

He may big enough to bounce bars in LV, and not get clipped, but his head isn't strong enough for the lunchpails of Lesnar, Carwin, Fedor, etc..he can't keep those guys off him.

problem is when your a bjj expert when trying to setup submissions you get blasted. You can't take to many shots from a carwin or lesnar because your gonna get knocked out.

I LOLed when he said on the prelims that he gained weight because Alves outweighed him by 30lbs in the cage. I guess Alves adds 50lbs back in 24 hours.

I actually believe him

we all know that Thiago and Gleison Tibau are far and away the biggest weight cutters in the UFC.

I've seen Gleison weigh at 156, then brag about and show off stepping on every scale he could the next day at 187.

For a lightweight, that Is insane.

So it is not a impossible to think his training partner Thiago Alves, a welterweight, might be able to 40-45. GSP would only cut about 15 pounds so I'll bet that thiago did have 20-30 pounds on him by fight time

Also, I would like to add that I have no idea how they compete like this.

For me, a lightweight, the cutting was very very delicate. So important were the walking weight vs the scale weight differences that it would change affect my mindset

15 pounds=golden
20 pounds=would likely feel like shite during the fight

5 pounds makes all the difference

so I could not imagine cutting 30 or more pounds. I don't see how the Frick they do it. But I've seen thr results

Yeah, I meant Mir.

And I agree the Mir gameplan was the dumbest thing ever. It was exactly how Lesnar smashed him. Get pushed up against the cage by a bull wrestler and not have enough confidence to try to take him to the ground, but rather just get pummeled until you buckle, then get finished with GNP on the mat.

How do yall expect Mir do get that fight to the ground? Carwin being the far superior wrestler was going to dictate where that fight took place.

How tall is Alves? I've seen him listed at 5'8"

Pulling guard and subbing him was Mir's best shot IMO. I understand getting Carwin on the ground wouldn't be easy, but putting him self in a position to sub Carwin was Mir's best chance.

I think he was way overconfident in his ability to stand with Carwin. After standing with Kongo and Big Nog and wearing them both out on their feet.

Brock looked twice the size of Carwin just now. I'm still not sure if that performance beats old Brock.

LOL at both of these sentences.

Brock isn't twice the size, but he is a lot bigger then Carwin...... and Brock WILL go for takedowns and likely succeed. Mir looked huge. Didn't look smaller then Carwin at all to me.

I had made a bet getting 3 to 1 odds on this fight taking Carwin (I gave 3 to 1 on the GSP fight). As soon as I saw how Mir was fighting him, I knew I had the favorite.

Lesnar isn't going to bully Carwin like he has everyone else. FWIW I said this when Carwin was still up and coming...not jumping on the bandwagon.

I agree that he won't "ragdoll" Carwin like everyone else. I do think he will get on top of him and stay there though.

I would say 5'9" or 5'10"

I am exactly 5'9" 1/4, I would say he at least as tall if not a bit taller than I. MUCH thicker though. Heavily muscled.

But not GSP in height. I'd say GSP about 5'11". But I've only been around George once for any extended period of time. I've been around thiago on numerous occassions

Same here. They had some tards(none of the regulars) on here saying that Lesnar would toy with Carwin.

Is anyone going to give Fitch another shot until he actually does some damage to somebody?

I can agree with this. I think will be able to get back up. It's just how quickly he can do it that will be key.
