Chara wont get suspended for that hit. I think it was dirty and there was intent to injure but he is NOT a repeat offender yet. Max of a 1 game suspension and a stern warning not to do that again.

Nothing not even a 1 game suspension! Now tell me what I've won...

NHL's Murphy releases statement on Chara review:
"After a thorough review of the video I can find no basis to impose supplemental discipline. This hit resulted from a play that evolved and then happened very quickly -- with both players skating in the same direction and with Chara attempting to angle his opponent into the boards. I could not find any evidence to suggest that, beyond this being a correct call for interference, that Chara targeted the head of his opponent, left his feet or delivered the check in any other manner that could be deemed to be dangerous."
"This was a hockey play that resulted in an injury because of the player colliding with the stanchion and then the ice surface. In reviewing this play, I also took into consideration that Chara has not been involved in a supplemental discipline incident during his 13-year NHL career."

I think that's bullshite.

Wow.

I thought Chara blaming the victim, saying that he was playing dirty was pretty much an admission of intent. Look at that.

The people on the radio up here are talking mutiny, announcers are calling the NHL a joke...and they are, Crosby their number 1 superstar out due to another head injury it makes no difference with the league. I am disappointed but not surprised.

I actually blame the Penguins medical staff. He has a run in with Steckel during the Winter Classic. We can argue over whether it was suspendable or not, obviously I'm way too biased, but Steckel argued it was inadvertent contact and he wasn't whistled for a penalty. It certainly wasn't the Chara hit. Anyway, Crosby has concsussion like symptoms. so what do the Penguins do?

Send him out there in the next game, in which he takes a check, and this one has now knocked him out for the season. It really wasn't a hard check, and I forgot who delivered it, but if that could knock him out for two months running, he never should've been on the ice. Look at how the Caps have coddled Green, by contrast, since being hit in the head, also during a Penguins game. He's played one game since then, and is expected to be perfectly healthy for the playoffs.

The Pens recklessly put their star out there, ignoring concsussion like symptoms, and it only got him far more hurt. He shouldn't have been on the ice.

Its the culture Baloo, medical staff, players, owners and the league office, but its rotten to the core. I am deriving less and less pleasure from it as the years wear on. College football too, with its recent recruiting scandals, BCS system with no playoffs (UConn in a BCS bowl???) Junior Hockey in Canada is better run with real leadership and care for the players. I am in a super shitty mood now /rant

Watching the overhead angle replay, it sure looks like Chara gave him a little extra shove into the glass post.

Dallas gets a point after being down 3-0. Flames won the SO. I'll take it. Richards was pretty rusty but he'll be back 100% in a few games.

Atlanta up 2-0 after 1 in a must win game @Carolina, give up 2 goals, then win in OT 3-2

4 fricking shots in the 3rd period with the game tied 2 all

At least we caught up 1 point, but still 5 back. Need to beat the Devils on Friday

The Blue Jackets are officially done, blew a 3 goal lead, and a 3-1 advantage in the 3rd period.

Baloo did you hear the latest? Montreal Police will probably charge Chara with assault, and One of the MAJOR sponsors of the NHL up here Air Canada are threatening to pull all advertising/sponsorship until Chara incident is addressed "properly" Now if we can get Blackberry/Ibm to pull out, we might see some real change

That's ridiculous. Look, i think it was a dirty hit and he should have been suspended, especially for a league that says it is cracking down on head injuries... but charging him with assault? And I'm uncomfortable with sponsors putting that much pressure on one specific incident. It sets a bad precedent.

With respect Baloo...frick NO do i think this is disproportionate in terms of response. The Board of Governors, The League, The discipline office seem incapable of getting their shite together when it comes to protecting their assets against serious career ending injuries, If I am a sponsor like Rebok and Air Canada and I've got my star player, marquee player out due to a preventable injury, a player I have paid good money to star in my commercials and I have pegged my ad budget to out because of incompetence and mismanagement and lack of control I say frick You Very much NHL, I'll find another place to put my $$$$.
