Simple answer to the original question. They didn't lose their sting. Teams are just aware of what they are capable of...and have had a year to prepare on how to stop Chris Paul. The great teams with lock down defense are okay with containing the guy now.

not really. paul improved his shooting and has become a much more efficient scorer this year. he's actually having a better season than he had last year. the team isn't doing as well because of injuries and guys like tyson and peja not playing as well this season

of the top 7 teams in the west, they have a winning record against only Denver, with the only loss coming without Melo and one win being controversial on a flop call, and Utah, who has ousted them in the playoffs the last two years.

I just got home to read this Gem. Tell me, of the 8 teams in the Western Confrence playoff race, how many do the Rockets have a losing record against? You wanted to make this dumb arse statement about how the Rockets only have a winning record against 2 of the top 7 teams in the West (which the Rockets are one of) yet you neglected to mention that the only team the Rockets have a losing record at 0-2 against is the confrence leading LAL. The other 3 teams Portland, San Antonio, and New Orleans, the Rockets have split the season series at 1-1. The Mavericks (who you neglected to include in your statement for some reason, even though they are the 8 seed in an 8 team playoff race) is down to the Rockets 2-1. The other 2 teams, Denver and Utah, as you already mentioned are both losing their season series with the Rockets 3-1 and 2-1 respectively. What a great fricking point you made there.
