South Carolina + the 5 SEC West bowl teams would have gone undefeated.
So based on your argument against TCU, USCe also didn't deserve to play in the SECCG playing a weak schedule in the SEC East.

TCU would have gone undefeated on South Carolina's schedule.
TCU beat Wisconsin by two. Michigan State beat Wisconsin by 10. Michigan State got defeated by Alabama by 42. South Carolina beat Alabama by 14.
We are 64 points better than them.
South Carolina > TCU.
I await your counterargument.

I don't "hate" them. I just think they need to be reminded of their place in the pecking order of things (ie not in BCS Bowls).
And before someone says it, yes I am aware South Carolina has never been in BCS Bowl. What's sad about that is we have a better program and team than TCU and no one is touting us as an elite team. Hell There are at least 6 SEC teams that are flat out better than TCU this year, yet no one is saying Mississippi State is elite either.

This is a hanging curve right down the middle of the plate:
South Carolina lost to Kentucky. Kentucky lost to Mississippi, Mississippi lost to Jacksonville State. Jacksonville State lost to Tennessee Tech, Tennessee Tech lost to TCU.
TCU > South Carloina

No serious and fair-minded football fan would mention South Carolina and Mississippi State in the same breath with TCU.

What's sad is you don;'t have a better team that TCU and you know it, that is why you are jealous of them.

As xiv pointed out, our views are bases on what happened. Your's is based on your own bias and what you think or wish would happen.
I don't that I'd call TCU elite, but they would not be based just on 1 year. They have been very good for the last several years.
I'm still waiting for you to explain why more non AQ teams don;t go undefeated if playing a non BCS schedule is so easy.

xiv why did you leave off USC?
what was Nebraska's SOS rank in 1999? I thought they were better than VT that year.

you typed that backwards per your link.
I figured NU had a better SOS, at 53 VT's is higher than I would have thought. I know NU had a loss. They had a bunch of turnovers at Texas and lost by 4, then clobbered Texas in the Big xii CG.

quote:This is the old SOS formula that was cut out of the BCS a few years ago on account that every computer system has a SOS component, making it a bit redundant.
Whose rankings are these?
a = opponents' combined winning percentage
b = opponents' opponents' combined winning percentage
SOS = (2a + b)/3
