Yeah, there is a pretty significant amount of people that get livid pissed if you talk about good personality traits and good deeds that Miles has done.
I like that they do that because it makes it easier to decipher who to not take serious.

Those type things are great and I don't think anyone can deny Les is a fantastic ambassador for LSU. That said, it has no place in a discussion as to what kind of a football coach he is.

I mean it helps recruiting likely, which should help win games. Having a school be thought of better brings more $ etc. in to increase facilities. I agree it is probably more indirect but it is there

The guy is universally liked and has sustained a regional university in a relatively small state as a major football power for a considerable period of time.

I'd say yes.

Meh, I'm not sure about that. Remember, LSU has always been a sleeping giant, and for years, lost a bunch of good HS players to out of state schools. Recruiting is a cycle. Miles has done a pretty good job overall, just lacks the development of qbs. LSU has played Bama close a ton of times, and the last 5 losses have virtually been on that one guy to make plays, the qb.

Lsu, like , Bama has the talent. It's simple , the Tide made more plays when it mattered.

He recruited and started Jordan Jefferson for years. An underrated coach doesn't do that.

That's part of his problems but then it isn't. Jordan Jefferson would have been a good QB in a Read-Option spread QB. Miles attempted to make him a Pro Style QB. Same thing with Brandon Harris. Miles continues to recruit dual threat QBs instead of statue pocket passers. His best years were with Matt Flynn, Jarret Lee and Zach Mettenberger.

Square peg round hole thinking.

Stoops
Gary Patterson
Dantonio
Jimbo
Briles
Bret B
Dabo
Shaw
Gundy?
Chris Petersen?

Two things:
1) The only guys on that list I would take over Les are Stoops, Jimbo and Dabo. That's two who have won national championships and one who will eventually get one

2) Ain't none of those guys are leaving where they are for LSU. They're either at jobs that are on LSUs level (Stoops and Jimbo), they've turned down jobs on our level to stay where they are (Patterson and Briles could have both gone to Texas, Gundy could have ditched Okie State for any recent SEC/Big 10 opening), they're probably only going to leave their current gig for the NFL (Shaw), they have health issues (D'Antonio) or they're at schools that would match any offer from LSU (all the other coaches).
