You’re obviously dismissing the Fake Spike Game, also 1985 where he basically picked apart the Bears 46 defense to defeat them and the Jets game with like a minute remaining he throws a game-winning 50 yard strike to Mark Super Duper

Would Marino have less success? I can’t say, no. Can you?
Yes, I can
Joe Montana was the greatest of all time

Marino held the record for game winning drives for years

Tell me why Marino would be less successful on those teams?

It wasn’t a mud game it just had rained and Pro Player had the infield not covered. But Mud not in sense people think of.

He also had the GOAT WR to work with

Marino did not have the same mental makeup to elevate his game in the biggest moments
Sure he could do it against the Jets in week 6 or whatever but I don't see Marino taking the 49ers down the field in the 81 NFCCG against the Cowboys, nor do I see him bringing them back in Super Bowl 23.
Great quarterback, great stats guy, not Joe Montana.

And a consistent top ten defense

Montana was already a 2 time Super Bowl MVP before Rice was even drafted
btw that's 2 more Super Bowls than Marino ever won.

While the Dolphins has consistently mediocre running games and defenses.

Montana’s 9ers missed the playoffs once after he became full time starter (1982) and even after getting hurt in 1986, they went 4-3-1 without him.

every great team has great players
When the time came Montana made the plays to win Championships, and he did it with nowhere near the physical gifts of a Dan Marino.
Marino didn't play with bums nor last time I checked was Don Shula some guy off the street.

Did Montana win those or did the 49ers, I’m confused?
This isn’t TRUMP vs Clinton where there’s one loser and one winner.

Joe Montana was Super Bowl MVP in SB 16 and 19
Who was Super Bowl 19 against again?

Those 49ers were great teams. They destroyed Denver in the SB, too. Pretty sure Marino could have won titles with those teams, too.
We're using the ring argument (a TEAM achievement) in a discussion about an individual season.
That 1984 season was a quantum leap in QB performance.

Brad Johnson and Joe Flacco have more Super Bowls as well.
Football is the ultimate team sport and Marino had no where near the supporting cast of Montana. The Walsh system was something never seen before at that time, and you couldn’t just key in on one player. Marino was it, and it all fell on him, so it was easier to key on certain points to somewhat derail him. That’s not Marino’s fault.

Super Bowl XIX was probably the greatest collective effort by a team that game has ever witnessed, I believe the 49ers gained like 500+ yards that day it wasn’t all just Joe’s passing and the defense neutralized Marino to the point of ineffectiveness, he gained 300+ yards through the air but wasn’t efficient in doing so and was sacked a bunch of times, it was a Picasso performance by one of the great dynasties in sports history
