Classic Durant. Never was an alpha.

I know a shite ton of Cavs fan. Not one of them has defended it since LeBron came back.

Agreed. Though I think this is a bit different. You now have 4 of the arguably ten best players in the league on one team. With some very cohesive role players.
True. They're deeper than the Heat were.
I mean at one point they could have a 2-time MVP, a 1-time MVP, a Finals MVP, and a DPotY runner-up all on the court together.
I'm with u guys. When the heat formed everyone was like "holy shite", that's an awesome team. This is beyond that, on paper this warriors team is by far the greatest nba team ever assembled.
Durant, curry, Thompson > lebron, wade, bosh.
Then u add Draymond who at times plays like a top 15 player.
This warriors team is deeper than the heat, and they can shoot.

The biggest plus was that GS got rid of Barnes.

This all star team bullshite is getting out of hand. It's damn near collusion on all star players part and teams facilitating that.
The model is single handedly destroying parity in the NBA.

even if KD didn't go to GS, it would still be primarily the spurs*, cavs, and warriors at the top
then a gap for everyone else
*assuming they get gasol to replace duncan

Have to agree with Steven A on this: weakest move he's ever seen by a superstar.

If it were up to me there wouldn't be a salary cap. Can't afford to play with the big boys? Too damn bad.

If KD wants to play with Curry, Thompson, and Green...why shouldn't he be able to do that?

More mediocrity is needed.

In this type of sport it would only compound the problem. The richest teams, which are also likely the biggest markets, would go all Yankees and just horde the top 10 players and everyone else would be feeder teams.
You would basically need to contract the league substantially to keep it competitive.

Because it's not fair!

KD should have selected a team with the right, agreed upon balance of great, good, marginal, and horrible players...then we could all sign-off on the deal and enjoy our 4th.

I'm sure all these people criticizing Durant would stay in OKC instead of going to a superior team in a vastly superior media market.

Max contract is making this happen, KD would be elsewhere if it wasn't for this rule

Its not that simple. At all.
The issue that would arise in that model is 8-10 guys getting their market value and then 10-20 other guys getting 50 million or so to keep them and everyone else getting scraps.
This sport is just too dependent on superstars to have success. Teams that try to be all SA or ATL with it and build cost effective teams will get poached by some idiot GM for 40 million dollars.

But I also hate the way the league is set up right now. You could basically hit fast forward on the season barring major injuries and we know what the next Finals will look like. So it makes a lot of the season feel pointless.
basically.
i thought my interest in regular season nba basketball was at an all-time low last season, but i can't imagine how little i'll care next season.
however, i tell myself that i'll care and watch a lot in the postseason. but it turned out i didn't watch as much in the playoffs, because i never did follow along or develop interest during the regular season.
it's kind of shitty.

The issue I have with this is it makes only a handful of teams even watchable. The league will be a few great teams and a bunch of really shitty teams. Personally I don't think that what professional leagues should be. I'm not a huge proponent of parity but these all star teams are watering down the product. My statement is probably hypocritical because I grew up in the 80's a huge Lakers showtime fan, a team with several hall of famers.
