We taking bets on if Girvin even makes it to the entry box? Joe Sharp being his typical shady self...
Care to explain? Do you think Mike Smith would jeopardize his hall of fame career by riding a hurt horse in the Derby? Do you think Rosie and Joe would run Girvin if he wasn't sound. I mean the horse just drilled 5 furlongs in 59 and change? I am not the horseperson you are Aspy but am looking for a little clarification on your post.
Thanks

I was reading an article earlier today about possible rain in the forecast.

10 of 20 have never run on a wet track.

Immediately that leaves just 10 horses to consider as 10 have never raced on a wet track. Of them, the two that stand out are Classic Empire and Lookin At Lee. Both of them have already raced on a wet track at Churchill Downs. Classic Empire captured his career debut on sloppy track, notching a length and a half triumph on May 4 of last year. Lookin At Lee’s race on a muddy track in the Grade 3 Iroquois was a mixed bag. He did finish second, but he was 8 ¾ lengths behind Not This Time.

He swam into the work. Has a 1/4 crack. That on it's own isn't going to cause a breakdown but no foot, no horse.
Missed a workout. We have nothing other than vague assurances from a shady trainer that the horse came out of it fine. He REALLY didn't handle things well when being questioned. And generally a hyperbaric chamber is used for breathing or lung issues (at least in my experience). I mean, I guess it could just be the foot but I have serious doubts.
And yes. I think they would try to run something not perfectly sound. Learned from the best. I was surprised it took until derby morning for international star to be scratched a few years ago. A LOT of trainers run horses that aren't perfect. Hell, it's the Derby. And not just for the derby...
Mile smith wasn't happy during all the shenanigans either but he was already committed.
Of course these are all just my opinions.
Clearly I'm in a bad mood today

For me.
Gormley and Classic Empire.
Betting them both across the board and an Exacta box.
Also, for chalk, McCracken heavy across with Irish War Cry.

what a shame, practical joker was sitting on a huge race, but post 19 is a terrible spot.
