No, but if you define legit as believing they were the best team in the country that year and could beat all challengers, without bullshite calls, then OSU isn't legit.
They won that game, the reffing was an abomination in an otherwise entertaining NCG, but Miami was a better team and if they played again in dream world right now, Miami would win.

Exactly. I would love to know how many legit national champions there are all time.

I meant in any sport, even those with playoffs, if that's the definition we're going by.

Yeah, and I truly believed that Duke was a final 4 team from 2001-2006 after winning the ACC each of those years and yet they only made it once to the final 4. It's all in who you beat and who you lose to. Florida and Oklahoma lost to teams that are better than Oregon state and beat teams that are better than the teams that USC beat.
You want to play on the big stage then schedule some of the big boys and play to your potential.

i actually agree with the op in the sense that the 2005 mnc game was 100% legit. the game clearly featured the two best teams in the country that year and the better team won that night. other years involved controversy in or leading up to the mnc game.

MLB, NFL, and NCAA basketball rarely feature the two clear best teams in the country, so I guess their titles aren't legit

Basically my thinking, Matt, that's why I was wondering how many champions all time in all major sports Pagan thought were legit.

I am not sure how Arizona will be legit if they win next Sunday. Pagan will probably blab something about beating the other great teams in a playoff. But they wouldn't have beaten 11-5 New England in a playoff.

And we are saying no other sport has a "legit" Champion, so why should we be bothered that their is argument to whether the best two teams are in the championship game?

How is Texas legit? They beat an USC that needed illegal Bush pull of Leinart at ND..they needed Leinart and Carroll to jackass away a double-digit lead in the last four minutes without running the ball nor Defense.
I'm being fascetious, but one could argue against most of them in some manor.
P.S. Miami 2001..one of the best teams in NCAA history..they killed everybody..sent damn near the two whole starting units and many young 2nd stringers into the NFL in following years.

Well, they shouldn't have lost then. Miami lost 1 game. Oklahoma lost zero. They are clearly the undisputed champion of that year. If you lose a game, you put your fate in other teams hands. Miami did that. Oklahoma did not.
