He already paid the price. He was assessed a technical foul. That part of the matter rests with his team and school now.

That's just plain stupid.

If you go into the stands, you should be severely punished...5 game suspension minimum. It doesn't matter what was said to him.

Orr, if it is shown to have said something inappropriate, should be stripped of his privilege to attend games.

Smart appears to rather emotionless laying under the basket. Something was obviously said that caused him to go postal in a nano second.

He was in the stands as a result of the play. He didn't go into the stands to confront the guy.

I noticed that too. Smart didn't seem the least bit agitated after he made the play. Something set him off.

That's fricking stupid, and Bilas should be the one getting suspended for race baiting and instigating.

What do you expect from a duke or nc or whichever one he went to douchebag?

You know what, I am getting tired of being called a bigot at the drop of a hat so if anybody ever does it in person I think I will hit them.

I mean, Maryland fans used to yell to JJ Redick about fricking his 12 year old sister with her in attendance. Anyone who is surprised that fans will say the most heinous shite to get under a player's skin is a bit clueless. I'm not defending those fans at all but I don't think that players carrying out vigilante justice is the right thing to do.

The easiest way to avoid being called a bigot is by not being one

If you read lips, when he's being pulled away you can see Smart point at him and say "Don't you call me n*****"

Haven't read this entire thread but no way was this the first time a black athlete was called the N bomb by a fan during a game. No way am I defending the fan because he's a prick, but Smart is still completely wrong in his actions.

Smart went into the stands to make a play, not to confront the fan.

Why, exactly, are you standing up for a guy who is a prime example of what's wrong in sports today?

Even if the fan did call him a n****r, Smart has still got to control himself. I think the fan and Smart should be suspended.

Smart should be praised for putting that a-hole in his place.
