You have to admit, the fact that it depends on what state the sex or whatever takes place is telling of the laws on the book. And no I'm not saying that age of consent should be lowered, just pointing out that it isn't consistent.
If you have to nervously check which state you are in... before nailing the chick you are with... then you are risking a helluva lot more than you should as Mark Sanchez
He probably has an OT 9/10 within a helmet's throw most of his waking hours... and he goes for a 17 year old?!?

After a little research, it looks like 17 is the "across the board" age of consent in New York, so if it happened there, it doesn't appear that he broke any laws. He's just creepy as frick.
However, if this has been a long-standing relationship, I'd be interested to know when it started and how long she's been legal.

The apparently this happened a few weeks ago, and since the Jets were still playing football I'm going to assume this happened in New York. Still not sure why she would hire a firm from California though.
My guess is Sanchez didn't call her after they banged, so she wanted revenge and called Deadspin. She then told Sanchez and Sanchez offered her cash to make it go away. So now she's trying to go back and say the pictures weren't sent from her and stolen in an attempt to cover Sanchez's arse and get a payday.
Apparently the pictures are only of Sanchez's bedroom, not of them fricking in it, so it would be really hard to prove he banged her unless she's pregnant.

Like most things Deadspin posts I think the legal fallout of this will be nothing but the potential PR fallout could be large
