I love Mingo as a prospect and think he will go top 15, or 10 depending on production this year, but I don't see how he can be above Jarvis Jones at this point.

Mel Kiper is an idiot and the best way to see that is to look at his early projections. They don't make sense because he can't talk to NFL people about who they might take this early. He doesn't know a lot about football and that is apparent when you put him next to someone like Gruden.

id love to see a QB sit down with Gruden and Logan Thomas dude would be lost
just highlights of him running for 12 yards on 3 and 9

Walter Football has Sam going #2 and Mingo going #15.
He was fairly accurate with his first round picks this year, aside from teams trading up and down.

Can we hope Jerry trades up for another LSU player?

I dont get why people think Thomas going that high is so hilarious. There's year after year of proof showing QBs get overdrafted.
We just watched Ryan Tannehill go 8th overall...

I said early projections. I would hope he is more accurate when it is less then a month before the draft and he can talk to all his insiders.
But if Logan Thomas goes before someone like Tyler Wilson, I will worship Kiper from now on. But, he won't. And Oakland doesn't have someone like Al Davis drafting for them, so I doubt they would pick Thomas.
LSU and Bama defensive players will always go high, I have no problem with where they are at.

1. Matt Barkley
Barkley is way too overrated by everyone these days. As an SC fan im not yet sold on the guy. He's been very average for the most part, he just had a nice run towards the end of the season and now all of a sudden he's so great. His WR's make him look better than he is IMO.

Thats because there was more a lack of depth of quality Qbs this year. Next year should be a lot deeper, with Wilson, Bray, Murray, Jones, Smith, etc....

That was one of the criticisms of Cam Newton as well. I'm pretty sure that he'll improve between now and Draft Day and from Draft Day until he takes his first start. Call me crazy, but he has all the physical tools.

Well first of all, this isn't about where he thinks they get drafted. This is his top 5 best players. And there's no way he's the 2nd best player in this draft. Basically all Kiper said about him was that he looks good in a uniform. Well I tend to focus more on their actual play on the field.

Only two guys from next year's draft really strike me as guys who will definitely start for 12 or more years: Jones and Thomas. Nothing against those other guys, I just don't see them being top flight starters.

Deep ball...deep ball...deep ball...hell, passes over the middle longer than 20 yards he's terrible.
I don't buy him at the next level at all...for college he suffices.

Sooo, you think an ACC Qb who threw for less yards and TDs then both Murray and Wilson who play in the SEC, will play and start longer then those two? Murray maybe and Bray maybe because Bray is pretty fragile. But not Wilson.

Ryan Mallett threw for more yards his last season in college than Andrew Luck did his last season all while in the SEC and that didn't stop him from being a third round pick while Luck was the first overall pick. You are overvaluing SEC experience when it comes to performance at the QB position at the next level. Sure playing for the SEC will help you get your foot in the door, but for QBs that advantage is lessened.
Let's look at some of the top QBs in the NFL from last year:
Aaron Rodgers
Drew Brees
Tom Brady
Matthew Stafford
Matt Ryan
Ben Roethlisberger
Eli Manning
Cam Newton
Philip Rivers
Michael Vick
Tony Romo
Matt Hasselbeck
Andy Dalton
Alex Smith
Carson Palmer
Joe Flacco
Only 3 of those guys came from the SEC. Stafford and Newton are both big mobile quarterbacks with amazing arm strength. Murray has the mobile and good arm strength, but he's not the biggest guy out there. Bray is tall, but rail thin and even though he can lob it deep, he has very little zip on those deep passes. Wilson is a solid guy, but he's a product of Petrino's offensive system and will be a back-up in the NFL.
6'5 240 lb quarterbacks who have sub 4.7 speed and can throw a 60-70 yard spiral don't grow on trees. There are a lot of things you can teach a quarterback, but those 3 aren't among them. That's why Thomas is considered a better prospect than them.

i watched almost every VT game with one of my friends i was stationed with who was a Hokie he is no where close to the ability of Cam
Cam played QB and was recruited as a QB Thomas was a TE forced into playing QB b/c Beamer can not recruit or develop QB's for shite since MV7

but he makes awful reads and makes even worse throws. he was bailed out all year by some of the best WR's beamer has had in a while. Any D with and speed or talent basically shut him down
