Because Mett is still on his rookie contract. He could easily flame out like Tebow did.

Very possible that Mett gets cut in the offseason... And he is NOT very good.... A shame.. I thought he would do better in the league.. And if I am an owner I would still want Tebow on my team... IF I convince him to play Tight End.. The dude plays with a certain passion.. He bleeds winning and just having him on the roster gives my team a boost......

Yeah Mett has been trash. Titans should have traded him earlier this year when teams were looking for another QB and didn't know how bad he really is

Team could have easily started the season 4-1 or 3-2 if Wiz wasn't coaching the team. And yes what you described is what people would call "competitive."

I've always liked mett as a prospect I think if he sat him down and didn't expect him to lead an offense right now and gave them a few years to mature and get his mechanics down I think he could be legit starter in the NFL
It's not like he's not a prototypical quarterback he just needs a little work hes at the type of guy you draft if you're the Packers and let him sit for 4 or the 5 years then let him take over he's not the guy you draft and expect to be the man now his mechanics are still too inconsistent

Mariota is a much better fit on the Titans than Mett. And Mariota is better in general. Mariota is pretty good though so theres hope for Mett, he just needs to be in a better system. Reminds me of Mallet though. Big guy with a big arm. If he isnt on a team with good Wrs that will run under his deep balls and a good Oline, he probably wont do much
eta: And I do think weve come to expect way too much from rookie and 2nd year QBs. A few years in the NFL to develop would be beneficial for these Pro system QBs. He might b good in a few years if he can sit as the backup somewhere behind a good QB and learn. But thats not happening in Tennessee. New England and New Orleans would be better fits for him
