Yep. A ton of South Texas schools run it, mostly 2A through 4A schools.
Gunter HS in North Texas has had a lot of success with a shotgun variation.

That's when it has to start. Early in the year I'm sure so very hard to get it right this early but those are the foundations of good defense they should be building.

Ironically, he was running this at Chalmette in 1977 with Vince Manalla and Bobby Mayfield, then at Bonnabel in the late 80's with great success. Those chalmette teams were really good. Dirty as hell, but talented. Just didn't have the horses to handle the Brother Martin 6'4 230lb LBS or Aug's speed.

I was complimenting them on how good they were, dipshit. Just had trouble in the trenches in the Catholic League. hence, "not enough horses..."
And it was the 77 season I was referring to, not 78.
