A salary cap benefits NO ONE(not fans players coaches or GMs) except owners

Seems like it benefits the teams in smaller markets.

It doesn't benefit the fans of those smaller market teams?

The only good thing that comes from a cap is the salary floor, so teams have to spend at least a certain amount of money

I agree. It's interesting how hard it is for people to admit they were wrong to absolute strangers on the internet.

MLB player representation = Ari Gold, Jerry Maguire, and Arliss Michaels

NFL player representation = Bob Loblaw, Barry Zuckerkorn, and Lionel Hutz

The MLBPA is so much stronger than the NFLPA. The football players generally come from a sports culture that is different. Despite football being a team game football players tend to be more self-centered and anti-union compared to the other team sports. Football is such a brutal sport it tends to do that to people.

But the CTE issue will eventually lead to fewer kids playing it a younger age, less kids playing, fewer contact at practice and less practice and rules to take away violent hits that the sport may suffer in the long run.

If you argue a cap benefits no one but the owners, fine, but what is the alternative, and how does it benefit everyone else?

injury is probably the biggest reason NFL owners won't give guaranteed contracts. And if they did they would demand more games, which the players won't accept. They all get tons of money, I couldn't care less

I know the chance of injury is greater in football than other sports but if I were an owner of a NBA/MLB team I still wouldn't want to give out gtd deals cause of performance drop. A guy staying healthy means nothing to me if he doesn't perform

The MLBPA had Marvin Miller leading their union for 16 years.

Ding fricking ding right there.
Marvin Miller ought to be in Cooperstown for what he did for major league baseball players.

Sure but does a small market team have a chance to pull a Seattle Seahawks and have consistent success year-to-year given the fact that the Yankees or whoever can just poach all their diamonds in the rough the next offseason?

A few non NY/LA/Bos teams that have had several years of success recently:
1991-05 Atlanta Braves
2000-14 Oakland A's
2000-current St. Louis Cardinals
2008-13 Tampa Bay Rays
2011-current Detroit Tigers
2014-current Kansas City Royals

players get their true market worth, fans don't have to choose between player and team loyalty, coaches don't have to sacrifice depth for their stars, the best GMs are able to put together the best teams.
