There is no way Atlanta would do that.

Camargo for Frazier? Why not, seems like a very even trade imo

Johan was worth 3.7 war last year. He's worth more than a prospect whose stars keeps getting dimmer.

Maybe so, but this is one of those rare trades that appear to help everyone if it happens. The Braves need OF help, the Yankees need someone to replace DiDi in the short term.

With Donaldson/McCann, Camargo lost some AB's so unless they want to try him in the OF where he 1 inning of work he isn't worth 3.7 WAR next year.
Frazier can play all 3 positions and if healthy will be an above average hitter.

They want carmagoat in the marwin Gonzalez role. He'll still get 400-500 abs. The only spots he won't play next year is center and catcher.

Is this a joke? We haven't even gotten in to Frazier's concussions.

How would McCann impact Camargo’s at bats in any way?

Pinch hit opportunities.
DH opportunities in inter league play, but I would assume Donaldson to DH in AL parks.

Yes I am sure McCann will be gobbling up pinch hit opportunities

If you are having to DH him you have bigger problems

Sounds like the plan is Camargo at 3rd for ~35 games to keep Donaldson fresh. 5-7 games at 1st because they think Freeman wears down when he plays 162. Play 2nd against tough righties and SS (or 2nd with Albies at SS) at least once a week. Doesn't even factor in the opening in RF and the possibility of spelling Brantley or whoever is brought in there or if Inciarte struggles against lefties the possibility of Acuña going to CF and Camargo to LF on those days.

I bet he will easily get 500 ABs across those 6 spots.

Marwin had 500+ the last three years and I don’t think he was a “regular” at any position except maybe 1B in 2016 before Gurriel was on the roster. Finding him ABs shouldn’t be an issue if he adjusts to the OF okay.

And I don’t see McCann ever being a preferred pinch hit option over Camargo anyways which was my point with the earlier post.

Regardless dealing Frazier for Camargo isn’t a realistic deal for NYY. They should just sign Marwin if they’re trying to find a super utility guy that can fill in at SS/2B

Great deal for Braves

Donaldson is playing for his last big contract, and is willing to go 1 year to prove he can stay healthy and be productive again.

Athletics have chosen a spot for their new stadium at Howard Terminal. It’s supposed to hold 34000, and be privately financed. But the team president said public transportation to get there won’t be as accessible unless some changes are made to the mass transit and if the team can build more parking. Plans are also to build a gondala and bridges to get fans to game from downtown Oakland. Stadium is supposed to be a throwback to Shibe Park, where the team once played.

Won't ever happen. Still dependent on getting the Coliseum land, same as the Raiders in which the city never budged.

quote:

How much public money would be involved for infrastructure at the two sites has yet to be worked out, but Kaval said the plan was to use taxes generated from the projects to cover the major costs.

Good luck with that, city of Oakland is broke. They aren't giving you the land or any financial help for your multi-billion dollar "vision". They're asking 150m+ for the Coliseum land alone.

Maybe. Oakland mayor seemed to like the plan. Schaaf might be more willing to help someone playing 82 home games a year than a team that only plays 8 home games a year. I hope they get something worked out. Team has been trying to get something done long enough.

It's too much money, probably has less than a 20% chance of happening.

Between the stadium site cost, Coliseum site cost, stadium cost, development of the park/offices/amphitheatre, gondola and other public transit they will need a ton of public money and Oakland simply doesn't have it.

The best place is probably on the same land as the current stadium. But the team really wants a downtown stadium. After losing the Warriors and Raiders, it would be a punch to the gut to lose the Athletics too. How did Oakland get so broke?

NFL stadiums are money pits for cities who give financing.

used 10 games a year, 6-8 months have to be blocked off, so owner cannot use it for other purposes, and fans spend money outside, tailgating, and then go home. Hotel rooms aren't being packed in.

Cities make more on conventions, than a full season of NFL games.
