I like it, even for a possible rental. You have to pay to sit at the big table.

For as seemingly bad as the AL playoff race will be with Boston, Houston, NYY, and Cleveland being in a league of their own...the NL is going to be awesome to watch unfold

Wasn’t Kelly supposed to be the catcher of the future after Yadi? Or was he hyped up awhile ago and had his value drop a little?

Man I wanted Goldy to home to Houston so bad. Cards got a great one and I would imagine he will resign there too.

He could still be still be good, but goldy is guaranteed production

That seems like a light package for Goldy, assuming he signs an extension

Octfo.. share a little, you can’t have everyone.

Well crap. It's bad enough seeing Goldschmidt tee off on Cubs pitching six times a year, now we got to see him 18 times a year.
Dammit.
Dammit.

He was ya, he’s about to get passed up tho in about a year or two.

Kelly would still be sitting behind Yadi for 2 more years, and yeah he's not quite the prospect he used to be.
At least he will get a shot in Arizona immediately.

Then seems like a great deal for STL. No brainer if he signs an extension

Kelly was stuck, he was kind of spinning his wheels, and yadi refused to sit and let Kelly get time behind the plate. So he kind of just got stale in memphis, while the kid, Andrew Knizner has passed him up.

Diamondbacks should have pushed for Knizer.

On the flip side, they said Carp is shifting to 3B, which is worrisome because we suck defensively and he sucks at defense, and because of his shoulder.
Gotta keep Gyorko for platoon and backup option, plus Gyorko/Carp at 2B some as well.

Yeah but I think they wanted someone to put in there immediately and Kelly is more ready than Knizner who still a year away, he just got to triple A for 17 games late last year.

Giants are tanking, dback sell off is beginning, the pads are still a few years away...NL west dumpster fire one maybe two team division let's goooo

Kelly actually makes more sense since it looks like they're trying to build a new team around young pitching. His defensive acumen plays perfect into that.
I just wanted to see Knizer hit.

Dbacks were in the same position that Baltimore was in with Machado. It’s hard to get any value out of one year of control.

I get the point you're trying to make, but Machado was traded at the deadline. Obviously he's not as valuable on a 1 year deal... that's a given. I don't believe a slight upgrade in the package, like a Knizer instead of Kelly, or an inclusion of someone like Gomber would have been a deal breaker. The difference in value there isn't significant enough where it would have killed a deal, IMO.
I would love to be a fly on the wall just to see how these conversations go and how they come to an agreement.
